Update on Nerf Gun War 2016: We had a meeting from 8 to 10:30 this morning. Well, when we have morning meetings, I just kind of skip my desk shift altogether because the kids never come to find me at my desk hours anyways. So I convinced the other RDs that we should go to Housing and lunch early today so our afternoons were completely open. We were standing in the lobby of the freshman dorm when my new target walked by (we'll call him "Bandito" since he has an emotional support ferret named Bandito). Bandito didn't see my Nerf gun, said hi, and headed outside. I signed to my fellow RDs and my boss, "THAT'S MY TARGET!!!!!11!!" I casually followed him to the door, but quickened my pace much too soon. I burst forth from the door lopsidedly as it was a heavy automatic door. Bandito turned to his left and my dart went an inch wide to the right (WHY DIDN'T HE TURN RIGHT?!?). A chance commenced!!! I reloaded as quickly as I could, but not fast enough. I was wearing some bootie heels, but still chased him down. He made it to his car in the knick of time. I had to slowly back away with my Nerf gun aimed for him as I did not know if he had a Nerf gun hidden away in his vehicle.
I regret my decision to go in haste. He is now aware that his RD has him as a target and we do not know when we are going to reshuffle targets. We cannot shoot in the buildings and now I can no longer sit in wait at the front desk, hanging out "casually" with my RAs. My "hiding in plain sight" method has been dashed.
