Random Stuffs

The shark class started on the 28th, but I think you've got at least the rest of this month to complete everything! I started on the first few sections but for now I'm leaving it alone while I work on my accounting class (which ends next week, yesssssss)

About 1200mi later and 22 hours of driving, we arrived at my new home today. Place needs a little work and a lot of cleaning (hard core judging the home owners right now because they moved out 2 months ago and never bothered to do any sort of cleaning before renting - it's gross) but should otherwise be okay. It was 65 and rainy today. Missing the florida weather right about now...it took less than 6 hours for a local to make fun of my multiple layers of coats haha

You'll soon have that Florida weather back because it has been 95+ here with all the humidity to go with it. I'm loving this cooler weather right now. I'm glad you are here and settled though! Sounds like the place we moved into 3 years ago.

About halfway done with the first week's material, but so far so good! They're doing a great job keeping material short, sweet, and to the point (though it helps I have a bit of a background in the topics they're currently covering).

Yeah I've know almost all of what we are covering. But I love the instructors and supporting them. I think they did a great job with the material.

There is also a FB group called Shark MOOC if anyone is interested in joining. 🙂 there's a lot of discussion happening there.

Also, plenty of time to catch up @WildZoo 🙂

Just started watching the anime ReLIFE and it is refreshingly funny. COMMENCE BINGE MODE.

I just called my Mom to tell her I adopted a kitten, and she replied quizzically "you adopted a chicken?"

Is it wrong I want to have chicken for dinner now?
So glad to hear you guys got another kitten! I saw a pic of him on FB, and he's SOOOOO fricking cute!

Yeah... I wanted to reply to my previous post, but wasn't sure how to let everyone know properly.

He picked me out. I was walking by an adoption event on my lunch hour and he "reached" for me. I took a picture and sent it to MrsSOV, and the die was cast (she named him before we went to visit him, and shopped for him as well). He seemed disturbingly shy when we met him with other kittens, but we felt he wasn't comfortable around the other rambunctious ones, and as soon as we got him home his shyness disappeared. We are pretty happy. It all works out I guess..... although I had planned on getting an adult cat.... can't complain. He is a cutie. And entertaining. And believe it or not hasn't gotten into any trouble yet. (day 3). And, OMG, he is food-motivated. I am used to finicky cats. Not this guy!

Sometimes you just have to wait for a pet to chose you! I had a feeling it would happen when the time was right.

I am always mystified by the wonders that microwaved wet cat food can do for anorexic kitties.

As an aside, to whoever it was that donated approximately 200 rice socks to our clinic today: thank you for your efforts, and also you could have stopped like 175 rice socks ago.

There was actually an ok study done documenting increased food intake as a function of food temp. It is useful for critical care patients in addition to cats at home.

I believe the theory behind it increasing palatability is that it increases aroma and may improve mouth feel to a lesser extent. At least that is what we were told in our nutrition course.

Yup, pretty much. The interesting part was that it documented the ideal temperature. If someone was REALLY enterprising you could measure temp to give the most ideal feeding temp.

This season of orange is the new black is just punch to the gut after punch to the gut and I still have two episodes to go 😢
I started it on Friday night and finished it last night. I have so many emotions running through me now.

Damn. How do you guys watch things when you have spoilers?! haha
Spoilers have never bothered me. It's more about the journey than the destination for me I guess! I used to skip ahead in books all the time, especially if I didn't like how things were going where I was reading. Then I'd go back and read to find out how the situation turned around, or how it got worse, or whatever.

Guys can we clarify - is this upsetting in a good way like thriller type or just gonna make me anxious and depressed? Haven't watched yet because I've been away a lot and was waiting until I have a full weekend or so to binge.

Everyone experiences things differently. Just depends on your sensitivities and life experiences. Also depends on your frame of mind when watching. Too many variables to answer this for me.

It's just...a lot. A lot of feelings. Like Lupin said, it really depends on you. I think the binging amplifies everything though.

I need to watch the season, but now you guys are making me anxious about doing so.

I just finished this season of OitNB and it made me cry. 🙁 I need to watch something more uplifting.
Why do I watch all these shows that bring me pain...Supernatural, OitNB, Arrow, How to Get Away with Murder...I just finished Cowboy Bebop recently, I thought I was watching a fun, silly show and then that went and ripped my heart out. Like wtf???

Attack on Titan, Firefly (+ Serenity), Game of Thrones, Grey's Anatomy, Daredevil, Scrubs, Breaking Bad, Futurama...

I agree that it's worse when they're usually happy-go-lucky shows and then there's that one episode that destroys you emotionally. Scrubs and Futurama in particular are really bad about this.

Depending on how twisted your humor is, there are plenty of comedic fishes in the sea. The only pain they'll bring is when you run out of episodes to watch.

Oh I know. I'm just a sucker for punishment.

****ing Daredevil...and yeah, Scrubs, you think you're watching a comedy and then...

This dog with teeth growing out of her ears popped up on my news feed, thought it was random enough for this thread:

Hey, that's from my state. Hah. Esmeralda! She made it through my local friends and now she is popping up from not so local friends.

Edit: She also has four ears. They didn't elaborate on how that works, like which ones have a canal or not, but it's thoroughly strange.

The video for this gif is worse because you hear the light switches clicking on and off. :scared:
I mean, and the lack of ridiculous faces? 😛

I'm actually fairly excited for the movie, watched the short it's based on ages back.

I'm watching Jane the Virgin right now (or I was before the last few weeks decided to go crazy) and it's thoroughly cute and non-stress inducing.
Uh huh just wait

Uh oh I had also made a mental note when I saw PBC's post that that may be a good fluff show for me to watch next...

I know when I finished Parenthood and was an emotional wreck, I watched New Girl next, which was pretty "fluffy" and entertaining and did not upset my heart or mind 😛

Attack on Titan at least sets you up from the beginning that it's going to be gore-filled, soul-destroying depression-fest. Scrubs is a light hearted comedy that occassionally gives you episodes like 'My Lunch' that throat-punch you in the feels.

In other news: First horse show in 7 years this weekend. Ack! My goal is no unscheduled dismounts.

Would a few people mind PMing me and letting me know if a few simple paintings I've done would be salable? I'm trying to make a little extra money for gas, but I'm not good at pricing my pieces...I'm not even sure if they're worth selling. Thank you!

Feel free to hit me up. If I'm not sure I could check with some friends that are artists.

This weekend or next I'm going to finish my patio and garden. Since I've decided to renew my lease for another year, I might as well finish up all of my outdoor and indoor decorating projects.

I bought some pine boards to make a frame for one of my pictures. I also bought some new indoor succulents and a little cactus... because why the hell not? It was a pay day for me after all.
