Okay here's my stats, what's the likelihood I get in somewhere this year???

My undergraduate degree is in Nutritional Science. I got a 3.3 Overall GPA from a very good institution...this school in ranked in the top 70 nationwide.

My Science GPA I beleive is around a 2.9-3.0 at this point. My aadsas GPA's have yet to be determined at this point.

I've now finished the 1st year of a Master's in Public Health program and have a 3.5 overall GPA with a 4.0 in what are considered 'science' courses in this program. They're not BCP sciences, but they are considered sciences through AADSAS. I will have my Master's degree finished before the start of next year's dental school class.

My DAT scores are 18 overall and 20 on the PAT.

I have lots of dentistry experience, my dad is a dentist(alumnus of Creighton SOD class of 1985) and I have lots of volunteer and extracurricular activities on my application.

This is my 4th year applying, though I have to admit the 1st year I applied, I just applied too early and tried just to see if I got in. So this is really my 3rd year applying as a stronger applicant.

I have Kentucky residency and am currently still in limbo from Louisville from last application cycle(meaning I could possibly still get in for this coming class starting in July).

So with these stats, what is the likelihood that I get accepted somewhere.

These are the schools that I am considering applying to.
1) Louisville
2) Kentucky
3) Tufts
4) Boston
5) ASDOH
6) AZ-MU
7) Case Western
8) Nova
9) Maryland
10) Marquette
11) Creighton
12) Temple
13) Virginia Commonwealth

Are these all good choices for my situation? Are there better choices out there for me? Any constructive feedback would be much appreciated, thank you. Especially feedback from those in the know of certain schools preferences in applicants.

you have some good and some not so good. You undergrad gpa could be better and your science gpa could be better. You are doing the right thing by getting the masters. Keep up the good work in that. I think your gpa situation will work itself out with doing well in the masters program. The downside to that is like you said none of those courses apply to your BCP(I don't think i would worry about this).

The second piece of the pie is the DAT. 18 AA DAT doesn't seem to cut it for people that have lower gpas if you had a 4.0 or something closer to a 4.0 i would say stay with 18 AA. Although I believe you are on the edge b/c of your higher graduate gpa and experience.

Third piece of the pie is your experience which you have. I am a non traditional student now and a professor told me to go volunteer. I believe volunteer work and things of that nature help applicants.

I think you would be a mediocore applicant. I say mediocore b/c of GPA and DAT score, but mainly for the DAT which is very very important. I could see you getting in maybe one or two of those schools, but its a gamble. If i were you I would apply early to many schools and start studying for the DAT and take it by the end of August.

Hope this helps.

you need more upper division sci classes to proof that you're good in sci. i believe major applicants have the same your dat score. so, if you believe yourself you can make it to 20, and PAT stays the same, then i would suggest you retake DAT.

upper division sci classes like embryo, histo, mol genetics, endocrine, med physio, etc...

good luck!!😀

For sure look at the private schools like Creighton and ASODH. Arizona was very interested in me because of my public health/community service...really stress your public health masters there.

I agree with Marscole - taking upper level division sciences will help your application.
