Rank Order List 2006 (only)

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I know that during interviews almost every resident acts as if his program was at the top of his rank list, but posting your list here won't prevent you from participating in that lie in the years to come.

chica... honestly, I'm going to let the following quote by YOU speak for your hypocrisy.

Why are you guys being so judgemental? imo rank lists are confidential info to begin with (people aren't as anonymous as you might think on here, maybe last year's class didn't realize this.I didn't realize it until this year myself.) Anyway, why do you guys want to know people's rank lists so bad?

We're also more trusting of each other and dont mind sharing what we've found out so far and where we're invited/rejected. I'm sure there are probably a lot of lurkers on the other forums that prefer to leave their colleagues in mystery. ""

Where's the trust, chic? Hahahaa....

thank you for saying it. I agree it's none of my business what everyone else's rank order is - but if you want it to be a secret - just don't post. The alphabetical order thing is kind of anal and a total cop out.

Yeah... it's like posting your interview list all over again...

Oh well- for the cool kids in the incoming class:

6 days til "YES/NO"
9 days til "where is life taking me now?"

Sorry, but where we're invited/rejected to interview is WAAAAAAAAy different from our rank lists, which can have various implications to various lurkers/non-lurkers who might know who you are. I chose to present my rank list as I did, and yes I agree, that was more than necessary. however I at least wanted to share that much, just to give people an idea of my ranking.

My point is, "it's a share if and what you want to" situation. If you feel like posting your list in detail, that's your prerogative. If i (and some others here) dont want to share the whole thing, I personally think it's rude to pry, much less ridicule people who decided they didn't want to share every intimate detail. We have our reasons, and you should be more respectful of that.

It should have no implications on anything. If you dont want to list a program on here, great, dont. Every place knows that the people they get might not have ranked them number 1, and I think they are okay with it. What people are likely concerned about is that they told someone they would rank them number one or 'highly', and then that didnt happen, so they feel uncomfortable about posting their true ROL on here.

Its okay, though, all this will be over soon.

Every place might expect what you're saying, but I have heard of some places begrudging the fact that they weren't ranked #1 by some of their current residents (and also places where residents dont feel comfortable admitting they didn't rank that program #1, which I consider to be the same thing, rephrased), i.e. they'll get the impression that the applicant didn't really want to go there, which in my case is completely untrue cause it was such a close call between all 7 ranks for me. I believe this is why programs aren't supposed to find out from nrmp how they were ranked, other than by who did vs didn't match there. If the NRMP keeps it confidential, why should I be the one to volunteer that info to them? Sorry but that's just how i see it.

btw i didn't tell any program I was ranking it #1. If you check out one of the prior threads, I actually felt wrong about send letters like that. I'm actually a little disappointed in you Idio for your assumption-making.

Oh no! Idio you are a disappointment!!

RELAX people....go get some exercise, breathe some fresh air, drink lots of alcohol....DO SOMETHING to get your mind off the match 😱 . Besides, you are going to have to find something else to stress, freak, and obsess over once the match has come and gone!

the only thing i'm freakin about now is having to scramble 😱 . . . .I'm just waiting for the good news on monday. . .Thurs is just gonna be the day I can finally start making plans. 😛

Well anyway, whatever the reason, I actually was just making a sweeping generalization. I dont seek your approval, it was just an observation. Maybe people are hesitant to say their ranks on here because theyd be embarassed to report that they matched at #8? You could always say "It was my #2", etc. after the fact.

IM JUST SAYING!! NOBODY TAKE IT PERSONALLY!!

dude chicamedica, all i'll say is i hope i'm not in the same residency as you...too much stress exuding from you.

I cant believe you are so concerned about location and the two programs you ranked are 400 miles apart.

just kidding man. I honetly hope that everyone gets their #1 choice, and we can all share a beer together in spirit on March 16th.

👍

this is a bit harsh, isn't it? chica seems nice, she just doesnt want to tell her business, which i can understand. i think its safe to say that we're all stressed, some more then others because there are other things that factor into where we match

ehhhh... i agree with ripped- this is just an obs from internet space, but chica seems like a self-centered DRAMA MAMA... and this guy would run like hel l from her gunnerific ways.... she has this "world revolves around me"... BUT i've seen people like this turn this attitude around... albeit it was in elementary school, but there's always hope for ya chic

when residency comes around and she starts her antics, she's in for one big slap in the face when some upper level cuts her shi t off. :meanie:

anyway... the original comment wasn't directed at her (posting alpha crap) but she's the prime example of someone who thinks so highly of herself that she believes PDs will give her dirty looks for not ranking their program highly, when they are really thinking about osama bin laden or something equally distasteful. 😎

that's not true at all. I'm concerned about not being treated the same way and assumptions being made about my preferences by a program compared to residents who ranked the program #1, if I match at my non #1. I could care less about programs I wont match at knowing how i ranked them.

As forthe "self-centered" comment, how does that fit in with my standing up for everyone who shared their list in alphabetical format in one way or another? I believe i was far from being the only one who did so. 😉 As for being a gunner, i never ONCE in my life even considered undermining someone else to get where i am. I am a motivated person, maybe you see that as gunnerish, dont know, and that's your prob if you dont like motivated people, but I strictly rely on my own strengths to accomplish my goals, not on making someone else weaker to get ahead. This is how I define a gunner. I actually admire people with integrity who work hard. 👍

Anyway, enough with making assumptions about people's situations. So far you seem to be the one with the flaws of character.

Really? I'm actually only a little stressed. Even if i have to scramble, I'm not that worried. . .things will work out. I'm just trying to counteract these assumptions people are making, and express how bad prying about peoples rank lists comes across. As for ending up at the same program, dont worry we wont. 😉

Chica if I can remember correctly, you had some nice interview spots this season, so I doubt you have to worry about scrambing. I think you'll be fine 🙂 G'luck all!

PS I back you up completely - I also posted my list alphabetically.
