Hey guys, I was wondering how you might rank the following programs: Georgetown, NYU, Rush, Maryland, Miami (Jackson Memorial) and what "tier" you'd place them in.

I have been trying to find a general overview or even hearsay of anesthesia program rankings, arbitrary as they may be, to guide my approach in the application process. I am a rather middle of the road candidate, fyi. Thanks in advance for all of your help guys.🙂

Honestly, you won't get much help from someone else ranking five programs.

Ask eight people and you'll get eight different lists, for a hundred different reasons.

all "mid - tier" some might consider nyu top tier but not me

1. nyu - big, prominent nyc hospital, huge program turned me off since i felt like i was in a medicine factory, ors on floor 10 or something, all fellowships but also like 20 people in your class all gunning for them.

2. georgetown - small 6 residents, sicker patients than you think, ie aids and going for orif of femur fx after suicide attempt. some attgs could care less about teaching, some are great - solid overall, lesser known than nyu, nyu is one of the "big 4" in nyc but notably the least prestigious/stuck up

3. U maryland - all good things from what i have heard but i did not interview. consider it below the other two but still a univ. good program

Miami Jackson, Rush No Idea. Both likely below these 3 on rep from my standpoint. Chicago and miami are not really as full of programs as the east coast and these arent the shining gems i dont think.
