okay i need your guy's help in ranking these programs in order what you think as the best program that will increase your chances (the most significantly) of getting into medschool (of course, after kicking some butt while in the program)
1. georgetown
2. rfu
3. drexel
4. rfu
5. evms
6. loma linda
i know some of you chose one over the other (ie drexel over rfu, etc etc) could you explain why? thanks!!!
the rank's been done here before...can someone paste the link to the old post?
it's hard to rank these things because everyone has different needs and different programs have different strengths that suits different people. But in terms of what admissions directors across the country think about these programs, we may be able to rank them based on reputation:
1. Georgetown -- most people know this program because it's been around so long. Its graduates get into multitude of med schools. The 11 month program is supposed to be super-duper rigorous.
2. BU -- BU med school's rank on the usnews just jumped up a whole bunch so the school is getter better reputation. The program is competitive but defintely doable. Be prepared to sit tight for an extra year because BU encouorages you to apply after the program rather than during. The school also offers you the chance to get degrees in MPH or MBA during your lag year...big plus.
3. Drexel -- decent program, but you have to watch the video telecast rather than being in the classroom
4. EVMS -- not too many admissions people know about this small school. But it wouldn't hurt you. The program is best suited for someone who wants to matriculate into EVMS. Almost all the students there are very happy. If you wait an extra year after the completion of the program, it may help you get into other medical schools...though very few people have actually tried this.
5. Loma Linda -- I don't know enough to comment. They're seventh day adventists.
6. RFU - more than 4 admissions directors at different medical schools told me not to go there if I'm thinking about applying to other schools. You should attend RFU only if you're absolutely positive that you want to go to medical school there.
