Hey everyone,

I'm about to be 'that guy' but as I was finalizing my rank list I thought it might be nice to get some input for two that I have at the top.

I'm trying to decide between UAB and University of Florida. I think UF's overall surgery numbers are better but I really liked both programs on the visit, residents seemed happy, weather similar. I think both are good training programs and can probably get a fellowship from either place. I hate being so confused.

Any thoughts from the group???

from what I hear...UAB is (1) excellent and (2) usually fills in the top 5 or 6 on their rank list...so whatever it's doing is working

dont know about U of F, but I imagine UAB is better...only because of the excellent things I've heard about UAB

Last year'r graduating class at UAB, all 5 out of 5 residents got good fellowships. 3 are doing retina, 1 ASOPRS Plastics, and 1 pediatrics

Phaco numbers there are just slightly above average, probably around 150...but retina cases, lasers, plastics, glaucoma, and cornea case numbers are far above average.

I believe this years class, 1 matched in Peds, 1 is doing retina, 1 is going to Duke for glaucoma, the other 2 are doing comprehensive.

You will have no trouble getting a good fellowship out of UAB.
