I was curious what the rankings of the osteopathic schools was (i.e. which one is number #1, 2, 3, ect...). Any help would be great.

They don't rank those schools. You just choose your school base on your criteria.

It just depends on your preference. I prefer schools that are part of a larger university system and have high average MCAT/GPA's. So for me I would choose Oklahoma State, Michigan State, and North Texas State. Those schools are very hard for out of staters to get into though.

USNews ranks both allopathic & osteopathic medical schools together.

The following schools have been ranked consistently:

MSU-COM
TCOM
OSU-COM
KCOM
WVSOM

That list is only for primary care i believe..and their is no official ranking which accounts pre-clinical education and clinical education as well as board pass rates/match lists etc..

I agree, I don't think USNEWS ranks Osteopathic schools that fairly.

Incorrect.

The rankings include Research, Primary Care, Rural Medicine, Family Medicine, and a large number of other specialties (Pediatrics, Oncology, etc.).

I an accepted at WVSOM and NOVA and can anyone tell me if WVSOM is ranked why is NOVA so popular? I hope it is not just the location! I need help to make a decision -out of the two which one??? And why?

WVSOM is ranked for rural medicine and primary care, if that is the path you would like to take. Although I don't know much more about WVSOM, I can tell you about NSU. It has great clinical rotations with so many affiliated hospitals, many fellowships and interest clubs, great atmosphere, a new athletic/recreational center finishing in the next couple of months, and the new medical village in the works for 2007. As you mentioned though, NSUCOM's location is great (social life, weather, etc), but I have also heard that WVSOM has a beautiful campus too. One big difference between the schools are tuition/fees though. I hear WVSOM is close to $45,000, while NSU is $31,000 (both out of state). KCOM is by far the best! I heard you can't really be a good doctor unless you go there. 😀
