4NO2 +O2 ---> 2N2O5

NO2 O2 Rate
.4 .1 3.3
.2 .1 1.7
.2 .5 41.0

Rate = (NO2)^x (O2)^y

Find x and y?

I keep getting X=1 and Y=4.8
Can someone please point me in the right direction??? the answer is X=1,Y=2

From 2 and 3:
5^y = 41/1.7=24 ~ 25 = 5^2
Therefore, y = 2
For this type of prob, you need to be flexible to round up numbers. Also, there should be a K in your formula. It is not used in this case though.
