Hello to everyone!

I am new here. Thank you for all the helpful info posted here. Wish I knew about this message board sooner.

A quick question:

What is the ratio for admission among interviewees for BU, UPenn and NYU?

Does anyone know?

In other words, if 10 people were called for interview for BU, how many are likely admitted?

Does this ratio change based on how early the interview dates are?

Appreciate your response.

I also wonder did anyone receive interview call from NYU yet?

Thanks.

Can anyone shed some light? Someone who went through the process? I know there will be no official number. But schools should have some idea how many candidates they need to pick a one. They can't be admitting anyone they interview, right?

Am I asking a question impossible to answer?

I would think this is a very important question for anyone who is called for interview to know the chance of getting in.

Thanks.

Anyone kind enough to answer?

Thanks

What I have found from arvhive:

1. NYU: someone commented in the past:

If you've interviewed at NYU.... you're doing good. It is rarely that I've heard a person *failing* the interview at NYU. Lemme put it this way, all the people who interviewed along with me are in my class (there were two others besides me). Also, some of my friends who recollect their respective interviews show simillar results.

I dunno about any Raj in my class (must be from a senior year). Hey, the 100 seats is just a passing rumour. It may or may not carry weight to it (gotta wait and watch).

Keep the questions coming.

Dr. Hannibal

That seemed to indicate NYU acceptance rate is very high among interviewees.

Hi, I went for my interview in Boston y'day. Kevin told us that there is another batch thats going to be interviwed next week which is the last batch. They should be notifying us by may 1st week. he told us there r still 5-10 seats remaining. Out of 500 applicants they interviwed 200. well, we still hv to wait for another 3 weeks & c what happens. whoever gets thro' is really really lucky. good luck to all.
Seema.

I could not piece together how many were accepted that year. So 200 interviewed and it is for 2002, does anyone know how many seats for that year?

Come on guys! Would you not be interested to know what your chances are going into the interview?

Well, either I am asking a stupid question that is not worth answering or people do not want to share this info.

Thank you for the info... but I think there was no reply more because .. not many who are looking at this forum know the answer... plus .. all these guesses that the acceptance:interview is great at some schools and low at some schools is all relative. I have heard that NYU calls almost everyone to an interview .. see... now there is a difference of opinion.
Anyway .. good luck .. have you any interview invites as yet?

I bet schools do, the problem here is that you are not asking schools staff you're asking candidates just like you! How are they supossed to know?. School staff doesn't read and let alone post on SDN.

If you want to know your chances before going for an interview, call the admissons office and ask them straight forward, make sure you mention your name and see what happens afterward.

Also, those posts you quoted, take a look at the date, some of those people haven't been around in a long time.

Remember people on SDN post voluntarily, they have no obligation to answer questions from pushy members.

Good luck.

I am not asking school staff. I asked for 'someone who went through the process'. I do believe there are those already in schools and kind enough to come back to post.

So you are saying members here are not interested in knowing their chances before interviews? And you are advising them to call the school to ruin their chances? Is this the kind of advice an old member like you should give?

What is wrong to ask this question and hoping someone can shed some light. Why so much talk about number of seats but not about numbr of candicates for interview? Wouldn't it make a complete equation?

Wait, careful here. I know everything is volutary here and that is why I am politely asking. Which part of my post is 'pushy'?

I saw a large number of views and none of response, so I bumped the message to get answers. Is it not following board's rule?

I thought this is a friendly message board.

Good luck to all!

Well, that sounded VERY PUSHY to me.....and I consider myself a very kind person that would answer IF I HAD INFO!!!! But as Meggs says I am not a staff member. I am sure that everybody else that read your post and did not answer is in the same boat.

You are definitely entitled to your own opinion. I have no problem there.

I believe this ratio is important. While a lot has been talked about or 'guess about' number of seats on this board (I did a very thorough search), no one raised this question or created any thread for this question. I find that to be a little odd.

Granted, we WILL NEVER get any official numbers. Please note, the number of seats mentioned are also not OFFICIAL. They all came through gradevines. I did find many individual pieces about esitmated ratios for the schools I am interested in my searches.

I still believe some old members who are in class have a very good idea about this ratio. They sometimes come back and ready posts here.

Can those guys kindly comment? Or can you PM me?

Thanks,
JHD
