I'm praying that it's bad enough to cancel school.

They rarely cancel school.

I'm not going to walk 10 minutes to the bus in 30 inches of snow and -20 degree temperatures. Will not do it!

SO PLEASE HIT US HAAAARD.

And please hit us hard enough to cancel "evening" classes. The school makes that announcement 10 minutes after I leave for the bus.

Either the school hate students who take the bus, or the bus system hates students. I haven't quite figured it out yet. The whole system is kind of backwards lol.

Hey now, missy, I believe you got a snow day the last time we had a big storm. I had to go to school! 😛 I think Dalhousie's logic is that all its faculty/students walk, so aren't affected by bad roads. Which wouldn't be bad, except the city sidewalks are always worse than the roads. I would gladly have walked in the road on Thursday, because the sidewalks were 3 inches of slush and water on top of ice.

I still had to go to my "evening" class. I found out 20 minutes before it started. Couldn't miss it because we get participation points for attending. I was out with my friend running errands when I found out, and had to pay her to take me to the university. 13 of 70 students showed up 🙄

I started my zoo vet hospital internship today! It was a very busy day, and I ended up staying an hour later than I was supposed to simply because a lot of animals had to be moved into the hospital in case the power goes out during the huge ice storm that is currently under way.
On top of that, my supervisor told me NOT to come in tomorrow, so I get a nice little ice day to relax at home. Actually, if it's pretty outside I will probably head out with the camera and get some shots 🙂
PLUS, today my sister gave me a heads up on a possibility of shadowing with an awesome veterinarian that we both volunteer with at our local TNR program. I was thinking about asking her for a recommendation this spring anyway, so getting in some added experience with her would be doubly nice.
AAAND, I am down to using half the ibuprofen I was using just two days ago (the max amount) for my wisdom tooth aches. I'm so freaking glad the pain is finally going away. I really really really want to eat a sandwich.

I just annihilated my physics homework. The best part of that is I haven't been to lecture in a week. Seems like just reading the book and going to recitation is enough, which is nice to know for days when I just can't drag myself through that lecture. 👍 Hopefully the homework success translates to quiz success on Wednesday (I got 80% on the last two quizzes!)

spent the past 1.5 hours at the bar and now going to sleep because i have class in the morning =\

As for my rave: classes finally got canceled (at 5:30 am, thanks emergency response that I didn't opt out of that I ignored). This is the first time in 4 years that classes have been canceled.

Still not a single flake has fallen, but I'm assuming the weather people are serious about this 100% chance, 8-12 inches, blizzard warning. Suppose we shall see. 🙂

Holy snot. The snow is nearly above my boots, and poor Chloe (corgi) will have to lift her nose to keep it above the snow pretty soon! I don't own a snow shovel, so I might just have to go outside and stomp her some area in the yard so she can do her doggie business without being buried.

I think most of the plow vehicles here are actually trucks fitted with the rake on the front, so I can't imagine they're doing too well at clearing the roads. It's moot, anyway... my car would get stuck in the damn driveway.

Anyway, it's pretty and fun! Too bad my husband is stuck in San Antonio where he was having a business meeting, and now flights are cancelled - even Dallas airport is closed, much less Tulsa. The most snow Tulsa has ever gotten, on record, is like 12.9 inches. That's the one I remember from when I was younger, I think. Dad made this snow cave in one of the 4-5 foot drifts between a fence and the barn (kind of a U-shape, so it drifted crazy high) and I played in that thing until my mother drug me out by my feet and made me come in to get warm. It was epic. 🙂

So, yay snow, yay no school, boo husband not being here.

my dog has been outside for about 3 hours now. she won't come in. this is her kind of weather! She's a big fan of the "leap and flop" into snow bank methods.

The other dog wussed out after about ten minutes and came back inside. 🙂

My walkways and porch are shoveled, car is cleared off, hot chocolate is made, and chicken soup is on the stove. I <3 Snow days!

I heard on the news that a storm from Texas (the one that is hitting all of you?) is supposed to merge with a storm from Ontario before it hits us over on the east coast.

It's giving between 25-40cm (up to 16 inches???)

PRETTY PLEASE CANCEL MY NEURO TEST.

Omg... we should totally go outside, take pictures, and post them on SDN... and track it as it makes its way up to me.

Aw, congrats!! I'm working at my own weight loss goal (funny thing, I started as of last March too!) - you're definitely an inspiration for me!!

Rave: I love philosophy. So much. This last class is gonna rock! And my classes got cancelled for the rest of the day (hope the same happens tomorrow! I didn't buy my book yet to do school work...) It's only the 2nd day, profs....yeesh😉

Classes are canceled through noon tomorrow -- and they let us know before 6am! Sure, I'll be studying, but I won't have to venture outside until my 3:00 lab 😀 (taking my dog out doesn't really count)!

I live off campus, so no i'm not going to the snowball fight. I'm going to not leave my house until the roads are clear, honestly. me and my foster dog are going to cuddle up and have some wine (LEGALLY!!)

Betcha $20 that if school is on tomorrow, I'm going to have one heck of a time getting there. They NEVER plow or salt the sidewalks. I'm nervous about walking on the roads, after almost being struck 4 times by impatient/blind drivers on the same crosswalk.

Yay, I'm richer!

Last night, a big fat cheque from the university was waiting for me. I made my final payment a couple of weeks ago and this cheque was for that amount.

I checked my transactions online and the way it was listed, it looked like my VISA was charged twice.

So I went in and checked.

After I had paid off the rest of my tuition, student loan paid them for the rest of my tuition. I didn't realize that student loan would do that. Usually I pay all of my tuition off in September. This year, I paid 60% in the fall and decided to pay the rest when my loan came in. I guess student loan takes care of that other 40% without my specifying.

So yeah... I get that money back!

Still, I kinda expected somebody to send out an e-mail or a letter or something and let me know, 'hey, we processed everything and it checks out... you're officially free!'

Instead, when I checked my unofficial online transcript this morning, I received a happy surprise.

Oh I do love the south. We get tomorrow off because it *might* snow/ice. Not because it will, just that it might. It is a good idea though. Been here when it snowed and iced in two different instances during undergrad and people flip the **** out. It's like they've never seen the stuff before (which is probably true for the majority of people, such as myself). I was working the night that it did snow and someone left a miniature snow man on the roof of my car, and then driving through campus to see what everyone was up to, I found another, larger snow man in the middle of an intersection.

But, snow, yah, I understand because it's pretty rare in the civilized parts of Texas, but ice? That's in your freezer. All day, every day. If not, go to your neighbor and ask to borrow a cup of it.

But anyways, we get tomorrow off which means I get to sleep late and potentially catch up (ok, honestly, only one of those statements will happen. They're almost mutually exclusive).

Vegetarian bacon strips have improved since the last time I had them (3 years ago).

When you cook em till their crispy, they taste sooo much like the real thing. Mmm. Great with ketchup.

Did you know that most bacon bits you get on top of salads at cheaper restaurants are vegetarian? Apparently it's cheaper to just make them out of soy!

Morning Star makes DELICIOUS bacon strips. When I was a vegetarian I would make one of their "chicken" patties and put the bacon strips on it on a sandwich...mmmm 😀

One of the saddest times in my vegetarianism was when Morning Star discontinued their corn dogs. Those were delicious.

I know that most bacon bits are synthetic. I LOVE THEM.

The buffalo wings I but might be Morningstar but I would have to go home and check. It's in a green package. The only thing sold by that company that I can get here are buffalo wings, nuggets and brocolli nuggets.

The only bacon I can buy is Yves. Sausage and lunchmeat: Tofurkey and Yves. Hotdogs: Yves. The only grocery story within walking distance stocks one or two Sneiders Oh Natural products. I LOVED their hotdogs. They stopped carrying them a few years ago. I AM STILL MAD lol.

Last night, I made a bacon and egg sandwich on an english muffin. It was delicious.

I never had the buffalo wings but I LOVED the nuggets. If you can't get a hold of the chicken patties, just do what I did when I ran out of patties-make a sandwich with the nuggets! haha. Their brocolli nuggest are really good. Also, there is a company (I don't know if it's Morning Star or someone else) that makes these nuggets that are filled with mozzerella cheese and corn. HEAVEN.
