I have no idea how they lasted so long without one! Although I suppose it's possible they had one before I started and it broke or something. I don't think the clinic owner drinks coffee, and I know the senior associate vet doesn't. I think our new grad vet talked the office manager into springing for one.
i'm not a coffee drinker either, but we are a pretty rare breed i think. the last place i worked, the day the coffee maker broke, they immediately went out and replaced it (as in someone came in to find it broken, turned around and went to buy one!)

I'm a social coffee (and tea) drinker. Like, if the culture of the place I'm in is really gungho about one or the other, I drink a good bit of it, but I don't seek it out on my own. For example, I drank more tea in six weeks in south africa than I think I had my entire life beforehand, and don't think I've had a cup in the last two years since.

I pretty much IV diet coke though...

you didnt have a coffee maker at your clinic?! i thought that was like the 2nd purchase made for any hospital... 😉

The practice I work at doesn't have one. It kills me. Although I have significantly cut down my caffeine intake compared to first/second year, so I'm capable of making it through the day on whatever coffee I bring with me. It's been nice having Keurigs at all my externships and it's all "help yourself" so I don't even have to bring my own!

Gimme dat Wild Cherry Pepsi
Or Cherry Coke
:hungry:
My downfall is Vanilla Coke Zero. Or in a pinch, diet coke with vanilla coffee syrup.

All during high school, I chased my breakfast with diet Pepsi, lol. I miss those days haha.

My toilet broke a couple days ago...nothing too serious, the cord that connects the flush handle to the flapper broke in half. I called my dad and he talked me through how to fix it and I was sure I could easily do it myself. I go to turn the knob that controls the water to the toilet and the knob breaks off, leaving a steady stream of water flowing out of the pipe just fast enough you can't count the drops. I call dad again and tell him what happened, and he and my mom drop everything and drive 2.5 hours so he can come fix it rather than find a plumber at 7pm on a Friday night. They came, got here around 9pm and he fixed the problem within 15 minutes. He showed me how to fix it should something similar happen again and then they headed home. I wish they could have stayed longer to visit, but we all had things to do tomorrow.

tl;dr: My parents are awesome, and I'm grateful for a dad that can fix almost anything.

Coffee + heating blanket + junk TV + not on call= 😀
(How do those who don't drink coffee survive through vet school? I have to drink it every morning or I will not be productive)

My boyfriend is coming up next Wednesday to drive back home to VA with me, since I almost **** myself driving back here last weekend in that snow storm in Ohio..which also means we get to spend Valentine's together!

Made my first ever payment on my student loan today. Hopefully it was a good decision and I won't need that money any time soon..

I didn't start drinking coffee until 25.... My husband drank at least two cups a day. So I start drinking after marriage... At this moment, I have a cup of coffee-flavored milk a day... (80% milk + 20% drip-coffee - steal from my hubby's cup)

And I cannot drink it after 12pm... Otherwise I can't sleep until 3am.

By the way, I am allergy to alcohol - vomit severely with 1 sip of vodka or tequila, and hangover headache next day.

Sometimes I think my life is so boring - no coffee, no alcohol....

Meh. I dislike both coffee and alcohol. You don't need either to not be boring 😉

I hate coffee. The smell makes me nauseous! 🤢

😱😱😱 Oh my land. I think you are the first person I have ever heard say that! The smell of coffee brings me much joy. Amazing how differently people react to the same smells/tastes.

I'm not a huge coffee drinker, but I definitely appreciate having a cup of coffee in the morning during the semester. I drink it almost black with a bit of sugar, and a tiny splash of milk. I didn't drink straight-up coffee until my freshman year of college though, I was definitely more about the mocha/frappucino/etc life before then.

I do like tea, too. I bring tea with me to late afternoon classes pretty often 🙂 A good chai or green tea = 😍

Coffee smell is personally horrid to me. Taste is also awful. I've had people try to convince me mocha flavored ice cream would be fine, but that bitter coffee taste permeates through anything. I don't know how you all do it... I'll stick with my morning mountain dew for a caffeine kick tyvm 🙂

I drink tea every morning. I don't hate coffee, but coffee doesn't really like me. It does terrible things to my digestive tract. I've traveled all over Central America, and people tell me what a shame it is that I didn't drink the coffee there. I tried it, but I still don't feel like I missed anything super special.

It does the same to me. I can drink something that is mostly sugar and milk with some coffee in it (aka Starbucks fappuccino) but anything stronger than that and I feel gross for a few hours

That will occasionally happen to me but only really if I drink it on an empty stomach, drink a ton of it or drink it after like an all nighter (which I usually get nauseous from just staying up).

And coffee is so much better down there. I drank so much while I was in the Galapagos. I actually still have a bag of grounds from beans that was grown on the island in my freezer.

I pretty much annihilated myself with coffee/other forms of caffeine during finals season a couple of semesters ago and felt terrible. It was a really intense semester that culminated in really rough finals weeks, I wasn't sleeping much, didn't feel like eating much, was drinking coffee on a mostly empty stomach just trying to survive, etc.

I can't stand coffee or alcohol. At all. Blech. I do like tea, but I definitely prefer hot to the iced variety. My personal kryptonite, though, is Dr. Pepper. Nectar of the gods, it is. I'm trying to lose a few pounds, though, so I've really restricted my intake lately.

Mmmm Dr. Pepper

I'm woefully unprepared for my pharmacology test tomorrow but it no longer matters because school was cancelled!!! I haven't had a snow day in 5+ years (since high school).

I've never had a snow day called the night before. It's always been a morning thing. And I'm loathing the coming storm because it's going to take away yet another surgery day, and practical surgery experience is the whole reason I took this rotation.

Anyway, my rave is that I had an awesome dinner out for a friend's birthday (also served as my post NAVLE celebration dinner since I didn't go out with people on Monday), and I've just started watching Aldnoah.Zero which I'm loving.

I want a snow day. :lame: :lame: :lame:

It didn't even happen when we had a monster blizzard in September and the trees were falling down and taking out the power. 😡

I don't want the snow day I just got, even though the conditions are pretty awful where I'm at.

Snow days for students=fun
Snow days for hourly employees=not as fun

Got my hair cut today!
For reference, I hadn't cut my hair since senior year of high school, and I just graduated with my Bachelor's.

Big change! I can't imagine how weird it must feel to have so much hair cut off at once.

I've also got a hair appointment scheduled tomorrow and I'm trying to talk myself into getting some sort of bangs...

Honestly, I felt a little light-headed. But sooooo much better. I keep flipping my hair like I used to to get it out of my face, old habits die hard xD

I've cut my hair about that short twice, sophomore year of high school and sophomore year of college. I hated it both times, so it's long hair forever for me. Yours looks really nice though 🙂

My mom used to keep it super short in high school, so I was rebelling agasinst short hair for a long time. But it got to a point where it wouldn't fit into a bun anymore.

Y'all don't even know short hair. Lol.

My face is too fat for a pixie cut anymore, else I'd still have it that way.

My advice: be really conscious of the amount of shampoo you select. It will still be too much, even if you are careful - but maybe it will wash out in less than five minutes.

Looks great! I can imagine how you'd feel "lightheaded" after chopping off so much hair. I've personally always kept mine pretty short, sooo...

Oh, and I'm diggin' the Umbreon decal on your mirror. 😉

i tried to get my hair cut here this weekend, it desperately needed a trim. tried to do the responsible thing and look places up, and somehow ended up at a place called super cuts (?) unintentionally. strangest cut i've ever had - said just want a trim to freshen the ends an inch, and 13 minutes later, she was done! literally just went around the bottom with a pair of scissors...my previous life experience had led me to believe that these places at least did a simple cut correctly, but nope. no harm done though thankfully. last time i try that in raleigh hahaha :smack:

GUYS. I am now considered in-state at MSU! Woo! And I will get retroactively refunded the OOS-IS difference from the past 3 semesters! This is absolutely life changing!
I saw your post in the MSU thread...that's awesome!!

Is this just for tuition, or are you now part of the IS applicant pool when it comes to admissions as well?

Was it the one in Crossroads/Cary area? If so - I'm usually a cheap haircuts person and that place was scary intense/quick for me! If not, well, guess a bunch of them are like that.

I've been trying to pay a little more attention to my hair now that it's more than a couple inches long, but I find it really stressful...
