Got to help out with a recruiting thing for my school department today. I talked to prospective student parents about academics and i am pretty sure they loved me. I told them I got into vet school and they just ooooed and ahhhed and I wasn't expecting it. My professors bragged and bragged about me and then told me I made a good impression on so many prospects. It was wonderful 😀

So we sent in some pictures of our dogs and they essentially make up a paint-by-number on canvas and then we go in and paint it. Kind of cheesy but I'm super excited about it. Did the paint your pet thing this morning, and man were we rushing to get done by the end of the 4 hour window! Attached pictures, mine is in blue (pic may look familiar 😛) and BF's is in red.

Lovely visit with the parents this weekend. Viewed some houses (meeting with the realtor tomorrow to make an offer), picked out some very nice bridesmaid dresses for me and my sister and finally got my mother to try on some wedding dresses (after managing to convince the clerk that Mom isn't the mother of the bride, she is the bride). And hopefully, I'll be mostly over this rotten cold by tomorrow.

After our "best week yet" according to our practice manager and "the week from hell" according to those of us actually providing medical care, we all went out for dinner and drinks (non-alcoholic for me of course) and had a really great time. No matter how stressful my job is sometimes, I just love my coworkers to death 😍
 
I have my file review this week! 😀 I'm excited to find out what they say, and start making more concrete plans for this next year.

I've already arranged to shadow at a large animal/equine clinic! I have virtually no large animal experience, so it will be good to get some exposure, even if summers are as slow and boring as they've warned me. 🙂

Congrats!!! Small confession, a while ago I accidentally "liked" a post you made on the official rejection thread because I thought I was on the acceptance thread. I couldn't figure out why no one was celebrating with you, then I realized what thread I was on and felt like a jerk. I'm super happy for you now though!

We are still liking rejections as sympathy and hugs. You were totally cool to do it.
 
Submitted an abstract to ACVS, which is super exciting 🙂 Don't think I'll get picked, but it's cool all the same. A weird rave: I got the lowest grade I've ever gotten in vet school on my livestock II exam! This grade happens to be one of the highest I've heard of all year on that exam. So, whoop whoop?
 
Started my work study in the science department at my college. Got to see some specimens up close and personal and play with a pig heart (which was awesome...those things are huge!)

It does! I won't have a lot done from the project I will be working on for the fellowship, but I *might* do one on the research that I start up this Friday instead/with it. I am guessing you are going to be there?? Also, I am pretty sure we go to the Oklahoma vet school at some point during the fellowship!

Well, the one for the fellowship is most likely going to be dealing with a clinical trial for cancer (this person was the only one who you could do clinical trials with instead of benchtop). But I will be doing some stuff with either TB, Zika, or Brucella sporadically with that/afterwards depending on which of the projects end up funded and when (in the one I am working with now).

not sure I'll make it this year. Missed the Mizzou meetup last year, but if you come down for this years, I'll see if I can muster social skills. lol

BTW, the hospital implemented a code-word system for people that call in so I don't have to name each person. Naturally, I told the nurse my code word is "Poopy pants." She kept it together over the phone, and like 3 seconds later she just said, "Got it."
 
We took off a dog leg the other day and it didn't weigh nearly as much as I thought it would. I'm bad at guessing. How about . . . 15 pounds?
 
My old little rabbit must be feeling better. She ran a circle around my feet today waiting for a treat. I hope that means her coordination issues were due to arthritis (she's been on Metacam for the last three days) and not her ear infection.
 
It was absolutely gorgeous outside here today! Mid-60's and sunny almost all day. That doesn't even happen often in the spring here! Let alone this early in the year.
