i saw a barracuda today. just feet from the edge of campus. its moments like this that make this school the absolute best place in the world to be!

Barracuda's are cool. I used to see them when I would go diving. They are really impressive underwater. You just can't wear anything shiny or they will come at you lol.

After my first week of ACTUALLY working out and eating healthy, I've lost 6 pounds! I know half of that is probably just water weight, but i'm ok with that. So far i've lost 13 pounds total from when I first started watching what I eat about a month ago. I still have a long way to go, but it'll be worth it. I have about 87-ish pounds to go to my goal weight. I don't look as big as the scale says, I think I just hide it well lol.

Oh, and TurboFire is amazing. Love it. 😀

Drinking wine on a VERY empty stomach! :scared: 😳 😀 😛 :hardy: :horns: :smack: :help: :barf:

Ok, so I just had some waffles too... at 3:30pm... with my wine....

did you know it is national waffle day?😀

Is it really????? Sweet, I subconsciously ROCK!

I don't know what my deal today was, I had blueberry pancakes for breakfast, and then waffles and wine for lunch

My sibling kitties are 17 today. Pepper grows more frail and Precious is slowly going blind, but they are both chugging along. I still remember the day they were born, and I cherish every day they're still with me. 😍

i got plenty of work for you right here. Have a flat that needs changing and some car washing, and a motorcycle that backfires and an speedometer/odometer that needs fixing.

I went to the gym and feel great! I really need to make it a routine to go at least 3 times a week! I feel so much better during the day and sleep better at night. I am so much more relaxed.

Took me a minute to realize you were talking about hubby's CAR, not hubby himself!

Haha! I didn't even realize that it does kind of sound that way.

Ever see that show, "My Strange Addiction"? There was a dude who was in love with his car and even managed to *ahem* do things with it.

But, uh, that's not me. I worked on husband's CAR today..

And SOV, I'll be in Philly in 2 months. The forms of payment I accept are booze, tacos, and good book recommendations.

Congrats Bearkat!! That is awesome!
Unfortunatley I don't have the same story going for me. I started really working out about a week and a half ago, and I have also been watching what I eat and haven't lost ANY weight. Down to .1lb I am the exact same weight.🙁 I have about 40lbs to lose to get down to my ideal weight. Want to share your secret? I know it's a simple math problem: less in than out, but somehow I can't seem to get there.

So I am really scared of mice when they are in my house but okay in a work setting or as someone else's pets.

Today for the first time in months a mouse came in my house and I was home alone and so scared but I set up the Havahart trap just in case... 3 minutes later he was trapped! And then I realized I had to do something with him... I was so brave and took him to the park and let him free without letting him touch me... SO SCARY but now he lives in the park and not my house!

You should definitely go read the rant I just posted lol.

Oh that is unfortunate 🙁

This has been a day for the dirty creatures... my Infectious and Metabolic Disease class was disrupted by two 3-inch roaches crawling around after my classmates!

I told my BF at 5 this morning that I would much rather her have a mouse than a roach. I will touch any other living creature in the whole world, but cockroaches remind me of little crawling devils or something and I get the willies 😱

I started shadowing an equine vet back in mid February and so far have only really been able to go in like once or twice a week. So I've been there maybe a total of like 6 times. Well, the one vet today told me they've been talking and are going to start paying me for the days I come in!!! It still might only be like one day a week, but I'll take it. The one vet is also very adamant about protecting against rabies and asked if I was vaccinated against. I told him no, and he also said they might be able to help me out with it. While it's a might, the fact that they'd consider it is still kinda awesome!! Yay for an additional couple of bucks a month!!!

Awww, but Madagascar hissing cockroaches are kinda cute...the American ones, not so much. Those one's still creep me out a bit.

Your insurance may pay for a large chunk of the rabies vx. Mine paid for all of it (tricare). You'll need it for vet school, anyways!

My roomie and I decided on an apartment! SOOOOO EXCITED! Can't wait for August! (I feel like I may be cursing myself by September for saying that, but I can't help it!)

My insurance is horrible. My roommate was on the same bc as me (well until I switched) I paid $15 a month for it, she paid $5. Granted that is due to the prescription plan, but eh. And I can't go anywhere without a referral, so that sucks too. And I have to pay $50 for a specialist co-pay. I'd kind of be surprised if it covered much of it. We might have actually figured it out last year if it was covered or not since I was wait listed at a few schools and we thought I might have had a chance so we started looking into things. Can't remember though...

Love the avatar, orca! I actually have that necklace. My grandma got it for me like 8 years ago. 🙂

My boyfriend is thinking of moving to MI for his gap year!!! I'm very exciting and I think it would be amazing. He is an awesome support, and he will definitely help me get through vet school. However, there's no guarantee that he would stay; it depends on where he gets in for med school. Also, I signed a lease for next year with 3 other girls, so it may be a pain getting out of that. Anyone have any ideas? I was thinking- if I break the lease for that particular unit but sign a contract for a smaller unit (will be more rent/person) under the same company, would I be penalized? I have not paid a security deposit yet, just signed the lease. I'm assuming the company would just randomly assign someone to fill my spot (like they normally do for people who go in blind).

Psi, I'm willing to bet if you are looking into the same complex, they will e flexible. Especially because it's still so early. Only one way I be sure- call!

Rave: Cell Bio midterm 2 done, good chunk of studying done for next biochem test, taxes done, FAFSA done! And I'm still high on my 100% biochem test grade!!!! 😀

Got approved for a loan on my very first truck today!!!
1997 F250 Powerstroke Turbo Diesel with a tow package 🙂

Totally awesome! Congrats! (fellow Ford PSD lover here - I drive an '03 Excursion) Love, Love, Love, Love my truck!

I got on the list to get a guide dog puppy in June! 😎 I'm so excited! 😀

hahah thats so funny! We had a mild mouse problem last winter and we have a humane trap thing for them. So anyways one time I took it outside to put into a yogurt container to let it go on my way to work. So I opened up the door and the mouse jumped out, jumped on me, ran down my arm, onto the ground and straight back into the house LMAO. I was heading to work so I think I just left an apology note for my bf and left it at that lol.

I would probably be out cold if that happened to me! ugh! 😱I sprung the trap with a six foot long stick just to avoid that!

ooo...now that I'm a cool kid is that what I'm supposed to say? "My ford PSD"....lol

thanks - I'm super excited. The key isn't in my grimy little hands yet but the check is on its way to the owner so hopefully it will be soon!!!

SO EXCITED. I'm a little sad about selling my VW Beetle but having a truck will totally be worth it!

So my pre-vet club put together a couple necropsy labs at our diagnostic lab. I went to the one on Sunday, with only one other pre-vet kid.

It was AMAZING! We didn't have an actual case to look at, just a disposal, but that may have been better cause I didn't feel like I was going to mess up any of their tissues or diagnostics. The pathologist that did the lab was very cool- he let us do a lot of the actual slicing & dicing, and walked us through the whole procedure, what tissues should look and feel like, and whether or not he would be concerned with different anomalies based on what he found, etc. We even got to dissect out the brain. 😎

My boyfriend got me this watch!

He told me last week that he was wanting to get me a nice watch to wear to my interview. He asked me to go shopping with him and this is what we found. I'm totally in love with it!

I had to go to court today (as a witness) and was driving along on the highway for the first time in a while, windows down, singing with the radio, loving the good weather. And then saw my exit pass by. Whoops.
But, this is a rave! I took the next exit and figured out how to get where I was going on my own. I don't need no stinkin' GPS!

(But then the garage I parked in was cash-only, so I had to wander around to find an ATM to get cash to get out of the garage...)

Admitted to George Mason University as a non-degree! ... one step closer to rehabilitating my GPA by retaking courses that had kicked my ass.... while spending way too much money to do it.

Yay got a scholarship for next year from the vet school!! I'm so glad I filled out that application!

My brother is seeing a psychiatrist tomorrow. He's also in town for the foreseeable future - he may be moving here from where he currently lives, if he can find a job.

That's great Dyachei!

That's great, dyachei. 🙂

I ordered a book, the Clinical Veterinary Advisor: The Horse, on Amazon. I love reading it, but it could not be checked out in the library and I didn't have the time to sit there all the time. It really helps me understand more when I shadow and sometimes in my classes, too. I ordered it used, because it was $40 cheaper.

I got it today! I'm so excited! 😀 And I don't know why, but they sent me a new copy! So I saved money, but still got the best of it! Love it when that happens!

I should be getting a farm animal anatomy and physiology book this week also. This one only cost $6 though, so I'm pretty sure it is gonna be used.
