It's been a long and kinda stressful week, but today I got my official GRE scores from ETS. I got a 5.5 on analytical writing! I know it probably has very little significance as far as getting into vet school, but it's nice to get an objective source saying, basically, "you rock at writing." The other highlight of my week was getting to watch an african crested porcupine being neutered.

My other rave... I was chosen to present a poster at an upcoming biology conference on my research. I feel sooo nerdy.

A friend of mine got VIP tickets to an Aaron Lewis concert for her birthday and the concert is tonight. She's being cool enough to take one of my old CD inserts along with her so he can sign it!

I can't believe it! I'm going to have Aaron Lewis' autograph!!!! :soexcited:

Great Big Sea was awesome, and the weather held out. We were supposed to get snow/rain mix, but it ended up just being light snow. A friend and I went together, and then ran into another friend and her boyfriend, and we all went out for nachos and drinks after the show. Awesome night. 😀

GBS was indeed awesome, Coquette! I went with a pack of 7 friends and we had a great time. Not-so-awesome: trying to find a bar that wasn't already full of concertgoers! 🙂

3OH!3 knows my soul.

I know that doesn't say a whole lot for my soul, but, well you know. They're genius.

But no one says it better when you want to have a house party in your house.

I think I just correctly diagnosed a dog with protein-losing nephropathy post-mortem. I don't know the specific type yet, but I've gotta say a feel pretty good 😀. Doc helped me out by pointing me in the right direction but the research is rewarding when your case matches up with all the symptoms. I'm grateful that my work brings me daily challenges like these (mostly because of my boss).

I just scheduled my thesis defense! Gonna have an MS after my name in a few months!

My PI told me he thought I'd get an awesome publication out of my data!

My guy is now on a work project in Omaha so instead of the super-secret spring break trip of awesome he planned, we had to switch for a few days in Nebraska. Not as great but I'll take it! And his Valentine's gift to me was a trip in May to Arkansas to see my Grandpa and hike and camp in the Ozarks. Can't wait to have him to myself for more than 48 hours at a time! 🙂

While I did bomb my rocks and minerals quiz, I would like to rave about the fact that I can keep my job over the summer months even though I'll be graduated in May. Supervisor says she thinks I can work up until the next full semester (fall 2011), at which point I hope to be gone.

Also, my advisor emailed me and rescheduled our mock interview. He had been really sick and was so sorry -I- felt bad! Anyway, I'm going to go practice a little. Leaving next Tuesday bright and early!:scared:

Go to the Omaha Zoo! It's an awesome, awesome place 🙂

My raves: The Dragon Age II demo came out yesterday... it took like 9 hours to download, and I stayed up way too late playing it, but it was totally worth it. That game is going to be awesome! And it comes out just in time for spring break so I can play it without feeling guilty 😀

I made it back from California in one piece. As I entered the Salt Lake City airport, I was welcomed by a massive Krispy Kreme stand. And a California Pizza Kitchen! I did not end up getting stranded in Detroit overnight. (It was close.) My professor was happy I interviewed, and not angry I missed yet another one of her classes. (I was worried about this.) And then, I picked up T.

I won't bore anyone with the details, but from a neuro standpoint, he's doing some little things he hasn't been able to do in years. He's looking awesome. It could just be a fluke, but I'm wondering if we might have finally found something that works for him. :xf:

So, yeah... good day. 😀

Yeah, well, I'm not comin to your party. Cause I'm not your boyfriend, baby.

Yeah well I ain't got no need, I got money from my parents in a trust fund back east.

ETA: AND TELL YOUR BOYFRIEND IF HE'S GOT BEEF, I'M A VEGETARIAN AND I AIN'T F*CKING SCARED OF HIM!

Shush girl. Shut your lips! I got a choke chain for my pit bull Lane, I got a shock collar for my rottweiler. Anyway, I just set them up to knock them down.

ETA: Is it getting hot in here, or is it just me?

I just took my Devo final, I think I aced it! Hope so...although, does it matter now that I'm accepted into Vet school!? 😀 Hello Senioritis 😀

OMG I knowwwwwww!!! The only class I have to worry about now is my physics class, because it's my last pre-req. But even then, I'm already in so all I need is a C in it and other than that, nothing else really matters! I've given myself a goal of graduating at least Cum Laude to motivate me and keep me from slacking off too much. Congrats on your final though!

Okay, guys, I have a dilemma and would like opinions. I know, seems weird to have an issue be a rave, but it's exciting for the most part, I'm just unsure what to do. Sorry for the complicated/long story. I'm very excited to be on multiple waitlists, but it's a very hard situation to be in.

I have my interview at my IS next week so am waiting to hear back from them and one other school that I recently interviewed at - I'll hear from both of those schools in mid-March ish. If I get in at either of those, then that's where I'll go. But if I'm waitlisted or rejected at those schools, then the waiting and uncertainty continue. I'm waitlisted at 3 schools so far, and Iowa is my top choice and best option between those three. Their OOS waitlist has moved in the past 70+ spots and I am in the 30ish position right now (and will move lower on the list as people decline their alternate positions). I am basically making the assumption that I will be accepted off the alternate list. Reasonable assumption to make?

Not only do I want to assume that I'll get in to ease the waiting anxiety and such, I have a different reason that I kind of need to make an assumption. I've had a huge travel itch for a long time and have been planning to go travel for several months before school starts. I had been hoping to do that last summer, actually, but couldn't because I didn't get in and needed to keep my job. So what I want to do is give notice at my job at the end of April, find a subletter, and escape the country for a few months. But I can't wait until I find out a definite answer from Iowa in mid-April to do those things or the plane ticket would be ridiculously expensive and it would be too hard to take care of everything and leave that quickly. I'm feeling fairly certain that I will get off the waitlist and am tempted to buy my plane ticket and start making my plans, but I don't want to end up doing that and then somehow not getting in anywhere. Should I go for it or is that too risky?
Any input is appreciated! 🙂

THREE waitlists and two pending interview things to do/hear from... plus the fact that you're awesome.. I say travel. Just make sure you know the start date for your schools... definitely would want to be back in time for classes wherever you end up.

I say, go ahead and buy it!

If you do your research, you should be able to find a plane ticket that you can cancel for a reasonable fee if, by some odd twist of fate, you need to.

Don't some airlines offer insurance? You pay a little more but you can change/cancel your ticket? Or read their policy, some of them let you cancel up to X date for Y fee.

Two semesters of physiology. Three separate physiology classes.
And todayyyyyy for the first time ever, I walked out of an exam smiling. (the professor glared at me and made a snarky comment as I handed the paper in...I dont think he likes that reaction to his tests lol) I think I've found my new physio study method. It felt so nice to not be crying by the time I got to the last page of the exam. Still a few questions I didn't know, and still a few guesses, but OMG I think it went well overall
(I'm especially happy considering I flunked the first exam for this semester!)
:soexcited:  :zip:

So I just looked up temperatures/weather for Tues/Wed/Thurs in PEI. It's starting to feel more real, now, even though I've barely had time to stress because of all my midterms (and two left to take on Monday!)

I only have five more amino acid structures to memorize for biochem so I think the bulk of the memorizing part is almost done. Although I still need to actually review my notes, but that's not the hard part.

And my new tops came. I ordered what size I thought I was, trying to be a little liberal so I didn't feel like a chub if they were too tight and I can actually size down 🙂 I still have to return them but the shipping is free if you're just swapping sizes.

I'm nervous but excited. I'm ready to get this show on the road. C'mon, Wednesday.

I LOVED MEMORIZING AMINO ACIDS!

Lmao. I'm such a dork.

I didn't love memorizing the TCA cycle nearly as much. Not looking forward to fatty acid and nucleic acid synthesis. :d

TR, you will do great! I'm so excited for you. 🙂

Bahaha, you are a dork, but that's okay! I'm not having as much trouble as I thought I would - once I could pick out the patterns it was like hey! Got it!

Thank you! 🙂 I hope you get your good news ASAP. Fingers crossed for both of us!

Today is the first day all semester that I've felt legitimately motivated to study more than 30 minutes before a quiz. I feel good about school and life in general.

I'm on the mend and I don't need you anymore 🙂 It's a great feeling.

My Brother-in-law won the 165lb weight class of the NCAA Div III New England Regional Wrestling tournament today! Which means he qualified for the National Championship! Only bad part is that the first day of the national championship is on the same day as a Phys III test. I now have to try to convince my professor to let me take it early. I don't think he is going to let me but it is worth a shot!

I know, I know.... I should spend the summer doing nothing and enjoying my freedom... but when I've known nothing but schooling every year since... well, kindergarten... 'doing nothing' isn't appealing. I spent the weekend trying to justify sitting on the couch, knitting, scrapbooking and playing with the pups.... just didn't feel mentally stimulated (I think it's something genetic.... my sisters and I are the same way.... 'relaxing' to me means having all irons in the fire, juggling things and making sure that nothing falls apart... for some, that's beyond stressful... within the chaos, I find peace)....

Just bought Christianson's Veterinary Medical Terminology and am quite excited to start diving in. Mind you- I also brought my Animal Physiology book and my copy of the ever-so-ginormous "The Cell" book to keep me company till fall.... Is it wrong that I enjoy reading textbooks instead of reading other things??

I think we have a lot in common.👍 I'm prolly gonna work a ton unless I'm at Tufts in their MPH program (which will be a ton of work in and of itself....). If I do have the summer: I'm learning to ride a motorcycle & writing philosophy papers. I can't relax - I have a hard time with it too!!!

I think this is a gene shared by most pre-vet students.

Last week I set an IV cath for the first time in like, a year, since we have two techs now that do most of the surgery prep. It happened to be while the dog was under anesthesia, upside down, prepped, on the SX table for her spay because the IV the tech set blew. One shot, boom, IV in. ROCK ON girl. Nice to know I can still set them, and that I function under pressure!

yay, just me . I guess that is what i get for SDNing at 1 am😀
