Getting involved in my last semester of undergrad may seem silly to some, but I gotta start making a difference somehow 😉 Now if I could only remember stuff for my courses.....

:biglove: Never forget that you are loved & important to this world. :biglove:

I have officially completed EVERYTHING I can do to get into vet school this year. I'm now at the hair dresser to get some color in my hair and then manicures later. Ahhhhhhhhh. So happy it's over. Fingers crossed for some acceptances!!

Whoo awesome!! I hope you hear good news soon!

My own rave is that I found a picture of one of my interviewers dressed as cupid on the MU CVM Facebook page. Sometimes it helps to have that reminder that interviewers are people too.

TV adaptation of Going Postal = Win. Richard Coyle made an excellent Moist von Lipwig.

OMFG WHERE CAN I FIND THIS?!?! Lipwig is one of my favorite characters! After Death and Susan.

A friend lent it to me. Sorry. 😳 It was much better than the Hogfather adaptation. I'm hoping they do a Making Money one soon. I really want to see The Truth on the screen, but it's been out for awhile, so if it hasn't been done now, it probably isn't going to get done.

Well now I must find it. I got Hogfather (cause it's one of my favorite books) and thought they did a decent job with it. I generally hate movie adaptations of books, but I'm such a sucker. *goes to search ebay and half*

Oh I still liked the Hogfather adaptation, I just think that Going Postal translated better to screen. A lot of the wit in that book is verbal banter and that works really well as a movie. Warning: Vetinari is a blonde. It takes some getting used to.

A BLONDE?! Whew, thanks for the heads up.
It's always reassuring to hear others who like the actual books say that the adaptation turned out well! I just bought a copy off half.com. 😀

Ahhhh....watching Scrubs re-runs and scanning through SDN during commercials...what a grrrrreat day!

One of my goats had a C section last week and had a pretty bad tear in her uterus. We've been watching for peritonitis and she's had a mildly high temperature--but it started to go down today! I think we might be through the worst of it!

:soexcited:

Just sat down and figured out my calendar leading up to vet school.

:soexcited:

SOOOO EXCITED!

I love life and vet school and being a vet student 😍
👍👍

I love feeling the Canadian love :biglove: Thanks, sh & C22!! I wouldn't ever be able to leave everyone on SDN 😀

Rave: I am not going to be going for inpatient treatment for depression. And I'm going back to school tonight so I can get my life on track. AND I was given Regalin (?) for the headache. I still have chronic pain but I can focus much better now 🙂:biglove::biglove: Watch out, world: I'm BAAAACKKKK

Aren't you glad you decided to stay? 🙂
kaydubs was going to leave too?

An SDN without kaydubs is like an ocean without salt.

Best analogy I can come up with right now.

Yeah, she(?) posted on the rant thread a few weeks ago. Glad she stayed.

So... the exceptionally 'mouthy' feral cat I trapped during the insanity that was VMCAS... that I made the decision to keep against all better judgment because he reminded me of Thomas (who seemed, at the time, to be considering checking out)?

Has been occupying my lap for the past hour and a half, purring, 'conversing' with me, and attempting to lick me to death. :biglove: And there was zero bribery involved.

He also appears to have suddenly lost the urge to chew on people.

I love stealth progress. 😀

Holocaust History midterm went well.👍 Attempted to tell the professor to "have a good break" but instead told her to "have a good driver's license." She loved that one...
Maybe I should start practicing my German again..

Eh, a good driver's license is always a positive... 🙂

I always wanted to take German. Alas, when we moved, my new HS barred me from enrolling on some sort of bizarre prereq-related technicality, and I had to settle for French. (My GPA should probably be thankful for this. 😉)

I still kind of want to learn it, but realistically, it's hard, and I know I'd never stick with one of those do-it-yourself programs.

Whoooaaa... totally didn't realize that you were having similar issues. Where have I been?

ROCKED a job interview today. Invited back to interview with the CEO's tomorrow morning!!

It would be a job as a temp receptionist/admin assistant in a company completely unrelated to vet med, but I have been looking for pretty much ANYTHING that will get me away from my current job since I value my sanity.

Right on!

I'll probably just temp it once my plans for the fall are finalized. I considered checking to see if my previous employer would spare some hours, but I don't miss the drama, and, frankly, I think temp work would be a lot more lucrative.

Feeling much better annddddddddddd.....

I'M OFFICIALLY ON SPRING BREAK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😍😍😍

I have been doing really well with my technical skills at work. I have been performing jugular venipuncture and placing catheters like a pro! Really happy about it because when I got out of undergrad last year my technical skills for shabby to say the least.

Thanks to the constantly rising oil prices, I got down to it and booked my flights for a 2.5 month South America trip this summer. I'll finally be able to scratch my very itchy travel itch. Now, just need to get into vet school... though I should be okay, still have 2 interviews to hear back from and am in a position on one waitlist where I am pretty much guaranteed to get in but won't find out till after Apr 15. I debated for a long time how long I should wait to book my tickets, but with the current prices, it was now or never, so Bolivia, I'll see you in a few months! 😀

My b/f took me out for breakfast this morning and I have a short day of work followed by a road trip to see my parents...

.... AND my veterinary medical terminology book came in the mail yesterday
:biglove:

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!

I won an E. coli Giant Microbe plushie at the Chem Society's Trivia night last night 😀 So glad I decided to go!

And... I might have two research jobs lined up for the summer. My honours supervisor applied for a grant. If he gets it, I will be spending the summer continuing the work I did for my honours thesis. He also encouraged me to talk to another prof, who is looking for students who are willing to learn to dive, just in case this grant thing falls through.

Surprisingly, not very many people are willing to learn to dive. I think learning to dive would be the greatest thing ever.

:xf:

I tried to learn a few years ago, but I had serious problems trying to breathe through the regulator. I couldn't seem to get enough air. I still want to learn though!

The first time I tried to dive at one of the intro discover things was no bueno, I swallowed a bunch of seawater like a doofus when trying to learn how to swap the rebreather.

The second time I got it though! It was really fun and if I had time/$$ I would definitely go do a real course and get certified.

I tried to get a dive cert. some number of years ago. For whatever reason, I couldn't equalize below about 15-20 ft.

Being young, and stupid, I spent a week trying to defeat water pressure with willpower and perseverance. The only reward I got for my trouble was some burst blood vessels in the eye area and a creepy amount of blood in my mask. That got me kicked out with a partial refund.

So, if you can dive, I envy you.

The movie "Water for Elephants" is coming out to theaters in April!!!😀

Can you please pack me in your luggage?

Well, it looks like I'll be trying it. The price is a little steep though.

Four years of work FINALLY paid off. My husband gets to keep his super awesome job. I get to keep living in my super awesome house! I can finish the wood floors and enjoy them myself! I won't exceed $65k of debt! I NEVER HAVE TO TAKE THE GRE AGAIN!!

I'm on cloud 9, man!

TT, you rock. You really are an inspiration!!

Can I post my totally negative rant. Rejection from Florida after an interview for 2 years running. How is that even possible? I must interview like crap. Now to determine my next step. So what exactly do you do after a bachelors, masters, 5years small animal experience and equine volunteer time? 🙁

This is the rave thread, not the rant thread!

That said, I just got accepted on the third try after two interviews+rejections. So... I dunno. I worked hard getting GREAT letters this time, I practiced interviewing for weeks ahead of time, and I worked on my PS for a month straight and had like 25+ people read it (and got additional help from those that were the most helpful).

Also, make sure your experience really spans through all fields - really try to make yourself stand out.

Sorry, I know how much it sucks. 🙁 If you want it, hang in there.
