It should be. May have been tacked on to the previous lifting workout I did this afternoon.
Sorry about your ankle 🙁 hope it gets better soon! I'm just hoping to make it another week and a half till the race w/o injury.

It is. I just checked. And you're right about it being mixed in with your lifting workout. Make sure you stretch and cool down then and good luck with your race in case I don't get a chance to say it later!

Hey guys. My rave is now a rant about my Nike+ being glaringly inaccurate. To the tune of 2.5 min off my pace. I just re-mapped my route and it is only 3.65 miles. Thus my pace was really 11:45 min/mile and I deserve none of your props or congratulations. My "fast" workout was really a slow one.🙁

Played poker with the lads last night at the pub (probably about 20 guys playing) and it got down to me facing off against an old guy who kept going all in - I wanted to punch him. Came away with 2nd place and 160 quid! 😀

Great craic - love hanging with the boys!

Sucked it up and told my job I'm leaving in July... :scared:.... yeah... um....

They not only renewed my contract, they gave me a raise, and then offered me a permanent position starting at 60K w/ full benefits, insane amounts of vacation, and a 100% tuition reimbursement up through a PhD 😱.

This is obviously a rave, but I'll be damned if they didn't just make it a lot harder to quit in three months and tack on 200K in loans to get paid less :idea:. And in this company, once you're permanent, you pretty much have a job for life. :help:

that's awesome! what kind of job is it? would staying another year give you some additional skills that would help you as a vet later on? could you defer for a year to save up some money?

I work as a biochemist in a pharmaceutical lab. I doubt vet school would let me defer for that. I'm so ready for vet school. I'm already 25 and have put it off for too long, and I'm just ready to get started. Financially it is very tempting, and most people that have been here 10-20 years (one lady celebrated her 30 yr anniversary here today!) are making insane money, but the work I do on a day to day basis, while fun and exciting, just doesn't give me the feeling I get when I'm working at the clinics. It doesn't even compare. This biotch is goin to vet school! 👍😀

It went well enough to get an invitation to see if we would mesh or not - a working interview.

I'm not sure how I feel about it yet, so I am doing some major thinking

freecycle.org and my local freecycle community are the best things ever. 😀 i highly encourage everyone to both sign up before you buy new stuff, and also to give, rather than throw away your old stuff... and i've seen people post some raaaaandom stuff that was actually taken (bars of soap? bags of cement? etc etc)

ANYWAY, i'm about to commit to huge loans for vet school, and i work for the government, so i make/have very little money... and i wanted a cheap bike because i am not super comfortable with biking yet anyway. i wanted to practice before i really commit to a road bike for vet school, so i figured i'd give it a try and post a "wanted: women's bike" yesterday.

....i got a response in like 12 hours & got the bike this morning. and it wasn't even shady! the lady is moving, and bought the bike at a police auction. it's a schwinn mountain bike in pretty good shape. best part? it cost ZERO DOLLARS. go freecycle!

i feel like a winner. 😎

No, but apparently they will feel up your biceps. I'm still not entirely sure why that happened.... It was random, to say the least.
And I didn't get any bandage scissors or books 🙁 But I didn't make it down there until after 1 pm. Yay for pens, highlighters and notepads though, as well as being told that I have "nice guns."

The bandage scissors were for 2nd years only. They checked names off an everything. Did they leave before you got there?
 
We're putting in an offer for a house today! It's cheaper than the other one we liked, closer to campus, across the street from where they want to build the new vet school, bigger and has a garage for my bf's work. I'm really excited! 😀

I didn't know whether I would get a puppy still this year, because I'm taking two adult dogs over the summer, but I was told I am on the list to get a German Shepherd guide dog puppy! It's really hard to get one of those as your first dog, but I am on the list! 😀

Finally got up off my arse this morning (I work evenings) and changed the oil in my truck, did some laundry and am gonna go have lunch with the BF before work. I think my meds are finally starting to kick back in! Yay Synthroid!! 😀

JMJ, Newfies were on Dogs 101 on animal planet this morning! 🙂
 
I just want to say how exciting it is to see people being called off the waitlist! I think it might even be better than original acceptances! Next week is gonna rock on SDN! :horns:

I got the intern position I applied for!

I was actually a little bit surprised. It has been years since I have done a formal interview. I was quite nervous. I thought some of my answers to their questions were long-winded. Then I found out that they called my thesis supervisor. I was offered the position today.

So, I get to spend my summer in farm-country, phenotyping apple crops and performing 1700 DNA extractions. I am very excited. 😀.

I have to weeks to find a place to live. Oy.

Two of the doctors I used to work with, my old office manager, and some other support staff just opened a new clinic right by my parents' house. It's still being renovated but they already have clients coming in and the atmosphere is exciting. So much work ahead of them and a lot of debt to climb out of, but it's going to be amazing once they're fully functional! I'm just so excited for them because they are some of the best people I have ever worked with.

Also, got a job for the summer! I was super worried that I wasn't going to be able to find anything in a clinic and would have to hate my life while I worked in retail. The place that I'll be working seems to do good medicine, the staff is awesome, and the doctors are very open to teaching, which I really appreciate as a vet student.

Finally, I'm getting a good bit of money back from the government! I spent a significant amount of money on vet bills for one of my pets when he was really sick around Christmas time and now he seems to be a lot better and I'm going to get the money I shelled out plus some!
