Me too! But my three day weekend starts Monday.

Also, the dog I treated yesterday that was shocky with bloody diarrhea is fine on recheck - stool is only slightly soft.

Thanks. I've worked about 1 week straight. Was supposed to have monday off but had an all day working interview. Being sent home early feels like vacation right now.

I've had so many sick pets recently 🙁. Stop feeding your pets junk food, people.

We had a lady yesterday that said her dog doesn't like its urinary so. She said he eats very little of it then she said I also feed him everything I eat. If I eat something he gets some too. 🙄

Doesn't like the urinary so or has no reason to eat the urinary so?

I really don't know how I will take these kinds of comments without laughing or rolling my eyes. I guess it takes a little bit of acting.

I have a good one...

Dog gets a large wound from a dog fight. Owner decides it is a good idea to put milk in the wound and glue it. Owner brings dog in 3 days later with a huge abscess. I wonder why...

I usually say something along the line of, "well, in the future, lets try not to feed your dog ham" or something along those lines.

I usually can stop myself from laughing out loud until I am out of the room.

Speaking of milk here is another story that made it very hard not to laugh at the stupidity of this owner:

Owner's dog is pregnant. Owner asks, "How will she be able to nurse her puppies when I can't get her to drink any of the milk I am feeding her?" Owner was a woman... I wanted to ask, "Do you need to drink milk in order to breast feed?"

Oregano cures ear infections, so make sure you check the pantry too. And for future reference - treating with dried oregano in the ears with no improvement for over a year before finally consulting a vet will result in a dead kitty 🙁 The osseous changes on poor cat's xray were disgusting

Same lady brought her next cat in after the dried oregano wouldn't heal up his skin infection. We fondly called him pizza kitty, and a little bit of Advantage cured his itchiness.

Some people should not be allowed to own animals.

The woman was a self-proclaimed herbalist and came bearing all sorts of papers touting the antioxidant powers. Some of them were pretty legit papers about the use of oregano. It certainly didn't hurt the pizza kitty any, but for the other whether it was the oregano or the year long otitis interna / bony changes that sealed off the inner ear (which came first - the chicken or the egg?), end result was euthanasia.

I think a lot of herbs have "magic powers." Just maybe not packed in small spaces like ear canals.

sometimes i wish owners would give themselves a 90 day trial period with stupid things like that first. want to cure a cut with milk? you do it first, see how that goes. oregano in your ear for a year? why don't you try it for a few months and let us know how that feels. can bacon cure a snake bite? go find something venomous, get bit, and let us know how that works out for you.🙄

See, I have no problem with people who want to use alternative therapies that seem less than plausible on themselves. I have a problem when they decide to do the same for their children/pets while withholding known, effective, safe treatments. I just don't understand people.

oh i dont have a problem with them doing it to themselves, that's their choice. but i want them to really think about and realize what they're doing when they do it to children/animals. and the best way to figure that stuff out is by doing it yourself.
 
My bf is at a hotel in Alabama, because he'll be working at a horse show there. He always sends me pictures of himself, but he never smiles in them. He just sent me the cutest picture of himself in the pool with the sweetest smile. I absolutely love it.

Helped take out a 4 pound lipoma today... it was awesome!
 
Today was my last day of classes EVER! I also managed to track down my adviser, which can be super hard to do, so he could sign off on my preceptorships (so I get 14 weeks of zoo/wildlife stuff for credit 😱) and am now certified TB-free for said preceptorships 😀 And the Danskos I got for half price came today.

If only finals weren't right around the corner :laugh:
 
Yay cuit! You know what you should do to celebrate? Make cupcakes and mail them to Davis. 🙂

edit: this would also serve the purpose of procrastinating studying for finals for you. win win really.

hand delivery? if you really want to procrastinate/need an island vacation, we'd totally take cupcakes down here, the grocery store has no cookies (none, the shelves are completely empty and probably will remain that way until after finals unless the shipment comes next week-tis extremely sad!!)😀

Got a nice surprise today at work. Apparently, one of my clients raved about me on the Petsmart surveys and they gave me a couple coupons for free soda as a reward (they do this for their associates, too). Really wasn't expecting it and the client's comments were pretty awesome.

Good for you. So few people post positive comments. You deserve to be proud and rewarded.
 
I was able to go outside and MOVE today! Thanks to an enormously expensive knee brace, I went down by the river and walked five whole miles. It took the better part if the afternoon, but who cares?! I was sniffing flowers, checking out sunning turtles on logs, and scaring the crap outta baby geese.

Not to mention that this was the first exercise I've had in weeks. So, so happy!
 
Congrats, dyachei and soopr!

My rave is pretty small. I did well on my final yesterday, bought some seed starters and another pot which I'm going to paint, cleaned up the house (minus vacuuming), unloaded a bookshelf (then moved it downstairs and reloaded it with my fiance so now he has no excuse not to put his books back after studying 😉), moved the spare dresser to where the bookshelf was (clearing the room that another vet student is living in this summer), went out to eat and had a delicious frozen daiquiri. And then we were asleep by 10 pm. We are so cool.
