I took ochem I, II , then the lab, then an all in one version that met every day at 7:30 am plus had the lab incorporated in it at 6:30-9:30 pm 2x a week. I'm not counting those mistakes but it sucked too. So glad I never have to worry about that crap again.

And before anyone says anything - yeah, yeah, there is likely a bit of orgo to pharm etc. but I'm pretty damn sure it won't be like taking an orgo class, so. Don't try and rain on my parade. :d

This. And if vet school ever requires me to synthesize anything, I'm quitting. 😛

Rave: I love my summer job. I just wish it wasn't ending at the end of June.

Surprise visit by my boyfriend. He took me to Red Lobster and is now dancing for me. 😍

Professor emailed me even though he's on vacation to let me know the exam trouble I mentioned in the Rant thread was his fault and I should not worry, he'll come up with a solution next week when he's back. PHEW!

A productive day today:
Got a place to stay for the first week I am in edinburgh. Found another rather nice flat that is relatively well priced to look at when I arrive in edinburgh (already emailed and confirmed with the renter.) Got my visa application submitted, appendix 8 filled out and have my biometrics appointment next week.

Minor rant: tier 4 visas are super expensive. Never would have imagined it was going to cost that much.

Overall, feeling rather produce today and going to bed now.😴

So, recently, I started making friendship bracelets again. I guess it has something to do with living in a town that shuts down at 5 on weekdays (I get home from work between 5 and 5:30).

I have been perfecting my skills, trying new patterns, playing with beads, and sharing my completed bracelets with FB and on a bracelet forum. I have gotten some really great feedback on them and it makes me feel really good! I am starting to get requests: made one for my coworker and one for his girlfriend, my best friend wanted to take my crappy attempt at a new pattern off my hands, mom wants me to make some for my cousin for Christmas.... it makes me happy that people like what I am doing. 😀

When I went home last weekend, my mom had gotten me two packs of floss. She then took me to the bead store so I could pick out some things. I saw a staff member making a hemp bracelet. I asked her if she makes bracelets like mine and she said she didn't... but she liked them so much she wanted to learn how to do it. So I gave her some links to tutorials. 👍

In case anyone is curious about my hobby, these are some of mine:

So this is a little story about Organic Chemistry, and how much... it sucks, and how I could have gotten away with the bonfire.

Most annoying thing ever - when people try to tell me how awesome O chem is.

Act 1:
I took O chem 1 at Harvard, mistake number 1.
Broke up with my boyfriend at the beginning of the semester, mistake number 2.
Got back together with boyfriend, started studying for the GRE's, and took on an extra 150 hour externship with fish (to make me look good) on top of working full time as a research assistant. Mistakes number 3-6.
Was averaging a 66, so I dropped it. Mistake number 7, because my friend was averaging the same and ended up with a B- after surely bombing the final. That's called the Harvard inflation.Sucky but True.

Act 2.
Started Ochem 1 at Harvard, again. Mistake number 8?
Did NOT get back together with boyfriend 🙂
Got reduced hours at work 🙂
Passed Ochem 1 by the skin of my teeth!
Had an awesome study group, who all hated Ochem, so it was awesome. No one tried to help the others see the beauty in Ochem, and we liked it like that.

Act 3:
Started Ochem 2 at Harvard. Horrible mistake number 9.
I had already been rejected from 3 other Vet schools, all requiring Ochem 2. Mistake number 10-12 for the money spent on those apps?
Dropped Ochem 2 after I interviewed with Ross. They don't require Ochem 2 🙂 EASILY could have been mistake number 13 😉 wink wink
Fantasized about havong an Ochem bonfire with textbooks, psets and notecards, but worried I may have blown it and must take again next semester, so I didn't. Mistake number 14.

Act 4, final act:
Got accepted into Ross
cried and thanked God

END SCENE

This is why I cannot get into my vet school:
Of the 20 required courses, 3 are chemistry:

1. Got a 60 in gen chem I
2. Got a 64 in gen chem II
3. Got a 57 in organic chem I
4. Retook organic because I felt I learned nothing. Got a 71, but vet school will not use the mark.
5. Took biochem to replace one of my gen chem marks. Got a 69.
6. Took organic II to replace my organic I mark. Dropped out because of illness.
7. Took organic II. Got a D (50-54 I think).

:bang:

You know what?! Until the time comes when I am allowed to retake my general chemistries, I am not going to stress over it. It is what it is. The rest of my transcript is mostly high 80s.

Congrats on the Ross acceptance. 😀

I must say, Trema's bracelets ARE beautiful 😉
I was doing some of these a few months back, but just your basic chevron style. It's so fun coming up with color combinations. Keep up the awesome work, Trema. I especially love the one you posted on Insta with the yellow star bead 🙂

I am debating whether to get a DNA tattoo. It's been a pretty big part of my life lately.

No organic in Pharm 🙂 It's much more on the cell bio level... not molecular (thank goodness).

I get to actually handle and take care of animals you guys!!!! I guess I'd be a lackey cleaning bathrooms and whatnot but I get to take care of the animals!!!!!! It was so awesome. And while always cautious and precautions are always taken the serval and the lynx are SO friendly!!! 😍

Soooper jelly. 😱

Puppy tomorrow! 😍
I'm jealous! I love GSDs!

My rave: I septupled my surgery experience during my shelter rotation (officially over tomorrow, but today was the last surgery day) 😎. It was definitely an interesting experience, and I learned a ton!

Yep you need to know that things like glucurinidation (damn auto fix keeps calling it glycerin ideation) is important, but like... what kind of organic reaction actually occurred is sooo not. Enzyme magic baby!

Costa Rica! 😍 I love the butterflies, but they are a pain in the butt to photograph. Your second one is a silverspot, and first is some sort of heliconius (but that doesn't really narrow it down much).

See any malachites? They're my favourites.

I officially move in to my new place tomorrow!! 😍

I spent the past two days painting my room and bathroom and it looks so good! And I unpacked all my kitchen stuff this afternoon - unpacking my kitchenaid mixer I got for christmas and cuisinart food processor/blender. 😍 Finally having my own kitchen space for all my stuff is sooo exciting, that, and no longer living with family haha LOVE them, but it was time to leave the nest.

Don't think I saw any of those.... .but I did see one HUGE butterfly although it wasn't doing too well. ya know cycle of life stuff🙁

Your knowledge of butterflies is impressive.

I'm not supposed to be saying anything, but I just cant keep this to myself anymore and I figure this is the safest place to rave.

A relative handed me an envelope of cash to pay off my grad plus loans. Since you cant pay by cash online (and I'm not comfortable carrying that amount of cash with me for days at a time) , an electronic bank transfer is supposed to be happening at some point next week. OMG, I hope this doesn't fall through. I'm so relieved and cant even believe that this is happening. It's not a huge loan, but just the fact that it will no longer be accumulating interest is amazing! 😍

That is amazing! Really happy for you.

She's also a bit pouty right now because I'm not letting her sleep on the computer printer. 😍

Omgooodnessss look at those ears!!!! TOO cute PP!!!!🙂

Yes, those ears are the cutest.

My rave: I'm spending my first night in the new house!!!

Sent from my DROID RAZR using SDN Mobile

omg PP! What an adorable nugget!! Those ears are so stinkin cute. You are going to have so much fun with your new pup 🙂

Ahhhh!!! I bet you're dying right now. She's ADORABLE!

I worked weekends at a butterfly room for two years, and our chrysalis source was in Costa Rica. I'm honestly slightly embarrassed I don't know exactly what that second one is, because we definitely had them.

On puppy topic... oh my god those eaaarrrsssssss. 😍

She's so adorable! 😍

Follows me everywhere. Sleeps at my feet. (And understands specific stuff like having to busy on the concrete. Usually it takes a while for them to learn that.) 😍

Loved the training for my summer job today! Found out everything I was worried about with the job was only relevant for they young kids and I have an old group. Then went on a 2 hour bike ride by the river & a long walk with my puppy.

Today= win.

p.s. I <3 the GSD puppy posted!

Cute. Puppies are great, especially someone else's. he he he.

This is a large part of the reason I enjoy puppy/kitten appointments at work--get to snuggle with the puppy, but it goes home with someone else.
Another tech recently adopted a kitten and is swearing never again and only reaffirming my belief kittens should come in pairs to entertain each other.
