Guys, guys, look! My boyfriend found the show Inside Nature's Giants ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inside_Nature's_Giants ), which is pretty much the coolest thing I've seen all year. Currently we're watching them dissect a whale. How did I not know this existed?

I got a letter (or rather, Mom did) outlining what tissues were able to be used for donation after my father's death. Today's been a rough day, hearing constant ads about "Dads are special, give yours a new drill for Father's Day" (I would if I could, damn it!). The letter brought a little comfort to me, knowing some good came out of it.

This isn't vet-related, but I'm so excited about it I wanted to post it anyways.

I won a small grant through my college last year to do research and presented the poster in April at the required poster-conference-thing. The media lady for my college saw it and got my info and later contacted me about interviewing me (and my awesome mentor!) about my project. 😍

She's been super busy but the interviews are finally going through and it's going to look awesome on my CV for grad school! 😍 I feel so cool right now.

(I'm continuing onto grad school to do research, so this press-release thing is epic amazing for me).

I found out that my dog really is special and everyone's favorite at the place where we board her when we're away. They always say she's a favorite there, but now I know they don't just say that to everyone (or if they do, at least it's true in my dog's case). She's such a spoiled baby. 😍

I need to get a picture of Marsala the Patas monkey. She is so funny. She's kinda cranky but I think the guy that cleans may pick on her. I was really calm and spoke really gently to her and she went into what I can only describe as mother mode. She could barely reach my arm and was being very gentle so I didn't pull away. (Though I was ready to at a moment's notice) Marsala found a scratch on on my arm and got very concerned. Her handler said that she gets upset when she finds wounds on "people she likes" 😍Man I love this place. ( I'm told she also so likes to pick scabs )

I found a recipe for Dutch butter cake online. I made it (it being one of the few cake recipes I could find that didn't call for an electric mixer). It turns out it's very similar to shortbread. So yay! I have fresh shortbread.
