A gorgeous cat showed up at my family's home a couple days ago, and she's super cuddly and sweet... I'm kind of hoping we don't find a microchip when we get her checked tomorrow. Just a little. 😛

Oooo, she's so pretty! Looks like a Bengal. 😍

oooh, her coloring is really pretty! she looks like a real cutie.

I'm pretty convinced she is a bengal (seems to like water, really vocal, and is a spitting image of one) which is why I'm pretty sure she'll be microchipped and have a loving family, but she's just so darn cute.

I learned so much. He explained to me why the shelter was build the way it is and talked to me about the overpopulation problem in great detail. I have never gone into an interview coming out knowing significantly more than I did going in. If I don't get the job... I learned something. I'm trying to look at it that way.

I hope you get it! Shelter med rocks 😍

My rave: I tried a pedicle tie technique on a cat spay today and it was super cool. It took me a loooong time to work up the confidence to try one.
And I did the first big dog spay where no one had to glove in and help me ever!

Guys!! I am *this* close to getting a paid assistant position at the ER clinic that I've been volunteering at about 10hrs a week since January. I am SO FREAKING EXCITED! Keep your fingers crossed, okay? Thanks. 🙂 👍

Going to one of my best friend's weddings next weekend, my husband's family's lake (I guess I can call it MY family's lake now?) after that, and then shadowing an equine vet after that! Equine ICU is almost fully transitioned which means this shift I am on until Monday morning is my last ever! Good things are happening this summer 🙂

I got a black leather glider w/ ottoman for $20 two days ago and now I'm getting a FREE black leather couch, both ends recline. $10 delivered to my door. 😀 Both used condition, but I have pets so I could care less. 😍

Now, all I need is a nice TV and my living room is set! All for under $500. Only took nearly 2 years to get there.

It had been so long, went out and got some track time this morning with the spec Boxster. It's so hot, had to make it a short morning, but always a blast!

...minus my one spin-out when I got a little too carried away in one corner, but stayed on the tarmac, no car damage, no harm no foul :meanie:

Finally got a good haircut! It's VERY different from anything I've ever done before, but I like it!

And, believe it or not, it's all thanks to my boyfriend. He listened to me complain at length about all the terrible haircuts I've had recently, and then he went off and booked me an appointment with his awesome stylist. Now if only she wasn't located 10 hours away from where I'm going to school!

😍 I just got engaged a couple days ago and my now finance and I are headed off on a road trip next week! Will be the last big fun thing before vet school starts! 😍

So I've been MIA, but that's because I bought a house and have been decorating and redoing it. Its been eating my time, but it has been so worth it because I can do what I want with furniture, colors and things on the walls.

I finished my office, where I plan on spending much of my time for the next four years! Pics below.

The last piece was a closet we converted to a bookshelf for all my stuff. My dad came up and built it for me. The last step is to putty the screw holes and paint the cleats.

Love the paintings and I'm jealous of your saddle and rack. I've always thought that what my place is missing is a nice rack and saddle. (Of course, if I were to drag my saddle up from NS, I'd have to cover the damn thing at all times to keep the cat off it...)

After my really terrible day on Friday, mom surprised me with Orchestra tickets at the Jimmy Buffett concert last night!! We had a blast! We were SO close and it was an amazing concert as always. Tailgating is always a ton of fun beforehand, too.

Thanks guys! I love it 🙂

Just got home from work and I am so happy 😀

At our clinic we often have a cat or two available for adoption. There is one there now who is SUPER DUPER sweet and he hurt his leg the other day. I forget exactly what is wrong with it (and no one knows how he did it) but he can't put weight on it right now and is having a hard time getting around on three legs. I noticed he didn't use the litterbox over night and by 4pm, still hadn't used it all day today. I realized it was because every time he tried to get up, he would slip on the cage floor and fall right back down. No one else seemed super concerned about it either. And all we had at the clinic to go at the bottom of the cage were these grate-type things which might have provided traction, but wouldn't have been nice to sleep on all night either. So after work, the receptionist and I ran to a pet store and got this great sisal scratching mat. It has a rubber backing that gripped the floor of the cage and the sisal top meant that the soft towel on top doesn't slip around either. Literally 10 seconds after I had set up his new cage he was in the litterbox, trying to poop. A minute after that he successfully peed in his box too. 🙂

My house is starting to come together too! We did a bunch of re-arranging in the office today. Nothing is where it was, and soon the snake's tank will be in here too. The work on the kitchen and bathroom are going well, and should be done a week and a half before classes start. I CANNOT WAIT to have a kitchen again. OMG I am going to cook ALL THE THINGS. We went with a really sunny yellow paint for the kitchen walls, and the floor has these bright accents in it. The whole room looks cheery and full of light. It's fantastic.

So far 4th year >>>>>> all the other years

by far.

I'm not a fan of fourth year yet. Sometimes I love it but most of the time I just feel like an indentured servant. Some of our doctors are good about letting you come up with the plan, etc, but if they are busy we end up getting treated like techs.

Same here. I still have no clue what to do in a crisis because all of the adults step in and shunt you out of the way. I like feeling like I'm working vs classroom, but the red tape you have to dig through to get anything done is rediculous.👎

That sounds lovely! I remember how excited I was last year when I got an apartment on campus and finally had a kitchen. I really did cook all the things, too. 🙂 Also, I really like the idea of a sunny yellow kitchen; I think that's what color I want my dream kitchen to be.

I am glad to hear it, both for you and (hopefully) for myself.

The forum has had a shortage of snark without your presence, btw.

Haha, I was just thinking about how I missed her attitude around here the other day.

Glad to hear it nyanko - I'm already ready for Y3 to be done and it hasn't even started.

I am in love with those green chairs! It looks like the perfect place to study. 🙂

I love them too I refuse to buy 'new furniture'. All of my furniture and I emphaize all is high quality, solid wood brand name used furniture I've picked up at consignment shops or Craigslist . I've either redone it or cleaned it up. I love older things. Those chairs are from a consignment shop and are so perfectly sized for the office. They scream 70s sitting there on their own but in a fresh environment they look super cool. I actually bought them at the same shop but 6 years apart.

I wish I had money to redo my kitchen floor. I got super lucky my kitchen came redone and the entire place has brand new carpet. Not the super nice stuff but decent quality. They didn't redo the tile in the entry and kitchen though. It would look better if I got down and scrubbed the grout but I'm really not looking forward to doing that. 🙄

So many good things happening!!

Had a going away dinner last night with my work crew and my fave doctor gave me Vol 1 & 2 of the " Textbook of Veterinary Internal Medicine" 😀 😀 plus a gift card to Target 🙂

The whole vet school thing is really setting in! Only 11 days until my big move!!!

My Fiancé called from Afghanistan this morning.. I haven't spoke to him in several days so that really made my day start off amazing.. 😍 :biglove:... And the wedding is only 32 days away 😀 😀

And to top it all off, tonight is my last overnight shift at the ER clinic!

Yippeeeeeee, life is good!! :highfive: :soexcited:

Me too! Older stuff tends to be well-made and will last a lot longer than most stuff you can buy at big box stores these days (the exception being really high quality stuff that I cannot afford). Except for my couch (a "mid-century" style from Macys) and mattress, everything in my apartment is from a thrift store, craigslist, or ebay. 😀 I would have bought those chairs in a second... but I also have sort of have a "chair problem"

I am so so proud of my dog for the past two days. She did awesome in the car, peed and drank at every rest area, slept quietly on the floor for all the paperwork-doing for my place, and has been all around awesome at moving. And is now playing with her new tiger toy in her new house.

Glad it went well!! Beamer and I will be making the trip here in about 2 weeks.

My rave- Comic con is in 2 days!! Tomorrow I'm spending the night at my dad's house since he lives 10 minutes from the airport and my plan leaves at 8am (which means getting there around 6am). I cannot wait!! Going with one of my best friends, too!

I could own a house full of beautiful chairs.

Leaving for Comic-con tomorrow!! SO excited! Spending the night at my dad's since he lives 10 minutes from the airport. I have to be there about 6am. SO PUMPED!!!

That's awesome! One of my friends from high school is going to Comic-con, too. I'm jealous, but at least I'm going to be spending the weekend in Hershey, PA. 🙂

Another, minor, rave: I had a great zumba class tonight.

You will be pretty close to me this weekend then. Hope the weather won't be ungodly hot for you if you're spending the day at the park.

It'll probably be less humid than home at least. Yay Louisiana!

Trying to stay positive. I kept my A in Biology.
