My printer is working again!!! It had been stuck "offline" for months. :rage: I don't use it that often and I can print things at work if need be, so getting it to work was low on my priority list, but I finally sat down and messed with it for about an hour last night. I eventually got frustrated and gave up and went to bed, but then today I decided to try reinstalling the software, and now it works! Go figure. I would guess it got messed up when I upgraded to Windows 10, but the problem started before then.

I decided to go get a seasonal job at World Market and I have training tomorrow night.

(I'd much rather hear back about one of the numerous jobs I've applied to over the last two weeks, but given that most are government jobs, they're not going to potentially start until after the first of the year at this point and I'd rather make some money right now.)

Hang in there, I know how you feel. It took me 5 months after finishing undergrad to finally land a good job. Over 100 applications, a dozen interviews, and only offered 1 job. It's crazy out there.

I decided to work at my old job for break...
I LOOOOOOOVE World Market!!!
Yesss they always have Christmas shaped pasta!

Yeah, yeah, I know. I just couldn't get in anywhere as a seasonal worker (I tried everything from Target to grocery stores) because I wouldn't be available until late December. I need some money (even though the pay is pretty bad..)!! Hopefully I won't have to do it over the summer, though.

I'll keep you in my thoughts. How long is your break, a month?

Appreciate ya. And yep, 30 days. I asked for 4 days/week. I didn't even touch on asking for a raise but I'm kicking myself now. The funny part is that they approached me this week and asked if I wanted to work a few days now (I said no). They just lost their second receptionist to her starting school, so they're probably starting to feel the pressure of being severely understaffed again.

If anything, it'll be good experience!

I have just over twelve hours left in my st surgery block, and then I'm on FREEDOM (vacation) for five weeks. Plus I'm about to take a nap. Life is good.

I start my first shift at World Market tomorrow but I don't have the rest of my schedule yet. I'm hoping they won't be too upset that I can't work Wednesday afternoon because I have a job interview at a clothing store. This other job pays more, is non-seasonal, 40 hours a week (6 am -2 pm), and provides medical, vision, and dental. I also would get a discount at Nordstrom and all of its subsidiaries.

What is kind of amusing is that I'm supposed to wear business professional to this interview. I suppose they want people overdressed because they're judging fashion sense (this seemed to be important to them based on the number of questions they asked on the application regarding how well you "follow fashion trends").

These past few months have been so magical. I've had great outcomes with some difficult medicine cases. I'm really starting to build a strong clientele of people who love me and prefer to only see me. I absolutely love my staff, and they really stand behind me and totally have my back. I've had numerous clients tell me how right my receptionists were in telling them how awesome I am. I found out my very experienced techs have been convincing clients to agree to my estimates when they were unsure by telling them that they should trust me because I'm a great doctor. I'm becoming really good at my dentistries, and I'm getting really good compliance with my dental recommendations. And I also love all the other doctors I work with. We make a great team.

A year ago, I quit my first job because I literally had thoughts of crashing my car on the way in because it would mean that I didn't have to go to work. Now I wake up looking forward to my day. I also come home feeling fulfilled. I'm even making on average $3000 MORE per month than I was at my miserable last job where I was being paid avg for a new grad. Things couldn't be any better right now. I feel like I have it too good 🙂

I am so happy with where we ended up. I love our house and I love our area. I was at TSC today and the lady in front of me just struck up a conversation by complimenting one of the things I was going to buy. The checkout lady made friendly banter, too. It's not necessarily a small town but it sure has that feel to it and it is so, SO much better than the place I spent the first 27 years of my life where there is more money than you can shake a stick at and everyone is so entitled and rude as they zoom around in their Benzes and Ferraris and Porsches. Also better than PEI where it was a small town feel but in an excluding, you're-not-from-here way that was so disheartening.

This area is pretty freaking awesome, I agree

My rabbit finally learned how to flop over on her new bed without falling off the side.

I think you and I grew up in the same place.😕

Just to add to this:
Vacation has been everything I ever wanted so far - I've done nothing but lounge, do light chores and play RCT. I (totally unexpectedly) got an honors on that surgery block. I just got my ugly christmas sweater for a party, and it's awesome. I'm done with the NAVLE, I'm going to be at the humane alliance in exactly a month in GORGEOUS Asheville, and I'm currently terrorizing everyone in my household with a pretty sweet nerf sword that I bought as an xmas gift for my baby bro... while listening to ridiculous amounts of christmas music.

You could seriously hit me with a brick and I'd still be happy with the world right now.

This. So much this. Vacation has been the best thing ever. I'm just really sad that it is ending Monday. But I've basically done a whole lot of nothing. And it is amazing. 🙂

We did, if what I remember from your previous posts is correct. JMO grew up near me, too. Small world!
well, just for a couple years, but the family still lives there (apparently they waited for me to leave before they finally stopped moving around every couple years haha)

I plan on moving back to VA, but am staying away from the metro area. Although there appear to be a lot of great job prospects, I just don't think I can deal with traffic/people/everyday mayhem.

Is the metro area the same thing as Northern VA? Because yeah.... F that. I'm from the Richmond/Williamsburg area and I don't think I'd ever live in Northern Virginia. 95 suuuuucks!

New dining room table came today, I am soooooo happy with it! 🙂

A week from today I'll be back on US soil for five weeks with Mexican food, my family, my friends, and my amazing boyfriend 😀

We have 4 spays today (unusual for our new practice) and the techs are getting everything together and started like a well oiled machine. Everyone has blood drawn, exams done, and 3/4 have catheters in already (4th one being done). We've only been here for an hour. 2 are already pre-medded and 1 is ready to go.

DONE with FINALS!!!! :soexcited: Now for a month of no school, no work, and trying not to stress too much!!!

I'm essentially done with finals too! We have one for our one-credit physical diagnosis class on Friday, but all the legit ones are OVER! Going out to celebrate with classmates in a bit for free drinks 🙂 (We have a gift card we won at NAVLE trivia night a few weeks ago)

That amazing feeling when you kicked ass on all the previous exams and took advantage of every extra credit opportunity the majority of the other students don't complete and realize that you can completely skip the final and still get an A in the class.

I had 3 finals but now I only have to take 1. Stoked.

I had four, I shouldn't have to take any.... I have a 96% in physics currently. But prof requires a 50% or higher on the final or you automatically fail no matter what your grade was. [emoji58] so physics final here I come....

But it is pretty great that I don't have to take three of them.

Since the ****tiness that was sat full of euthanasias, every day I've done major procedures that saved pets' lives. Very weird but satisfying cases that have stretched me to the limits of my clinical competency. Today I did a full mouth extraction on a dog (there were 31 to pull) + 2 oronasal fistulas to repair, where I sorta foolishly/cockily decided last minute to pull the mandibular first molar on a jaw that was very thin with very real possibility for iatrogenic fracture. All teeth gone, fistulas closed, no root tips left, and I didn't break the jaw!

my only appointment today was a recheck from a HBC kitten. he's doing great. and snuggled with me in the exam room. I made my associate do 4 spays (see previous) and the sick fractious cat since I'm on the scooter. We had a profitable day and everyone left on time with notes done.

And the surgeon's still posting on SDN

I have some really good leftovers from dinner last night and I can't wait to eat them for lunch today! :cat: It really is the small things!

10 page physics final: complete! I feel like I was very well prepared too!!
