i tried to read the practice passages but when it is time to answer the questions i can't remember which paragraph mentions things about the question.
do we have to read the whole passages in the actual dat?
anyone scored at least a 17 without reading the whole passage?

I tried all different techniques...first I would go straight to questions and try to find answers in the passage, but that gave me headache and i scored 21 & 20 on topscore. But I think i scored high because I just got lucky or something. But it always put me under a lot of pressure. So i didnt like that technique...so then i would read the whole passage and answer the questions...that brought down my score because i ran out of time - i think i scored 18-19 that way. Finally i tried writing down imp words from each passage...that way i knew what was going on in the passage and also was able to stay in time limit...most imp thing i didnt feel like i was rushing..that way i scored 20-21. I think m gonna stick to the last technique....it also helps you answer the author's tone type of questions.

how can you tell what the tone is?
i haven't had a class that explains how to answer these types of questions.

The tone of the passages can best be described as:
whimsical
cautious
analytical
inquisitive
disparaging and flippant
critical and demanding
genial and conversational
alarmed and disparaging
facetious and cynical
scholarly and noncommittal
scholarly and concerned

can someone explain what the terms above mean?
