just a quick poll/question for those who have taken the DAT

for the reading comprehension, were the questions given to you in order? it was for me and i assumed that that is the format (although none of the practice tests even brought up that note), but from asking a few others, not always. it seems like sometimes (for the lucky ones) the questions are in order, but for a few others they aren't? 😕

if you have taken it, were yours in order or not?

Answer: For mine, absolutely NOT; I had to search all over the place to find my answers.

No, my questions were scattered all over the passage. Some were interpretive too which I was surprised to see.

I think it really just depends on the type of test you get. My first one, I had to look everywhere. The second time i took it, it was almost all in order. maybe taht's why i got a 24. only missed 3 !!! I would prepare by doing an outline like kaplan tells you to. it really helps! good luck

Most of mine were in order - I was actually pretty surprised by how in order everything seemed. It almost made it too easy. I guess I got lucky.

that's the thing, and what i don't get.

having your questions in order vs. not in order will dramatically impact how you take the test (less of the panicky feeling) and ultimately, your score. obviously when they score you against the others who have taken the same test, i'm assuming the ppl who took the same version as me also got the questions in order.

all the barron's diagnostic tests i took made me panic--the passages were hard to read and the questions were everywhere. but then, i got the actual test, and not only were the passages easy to read but the questions were in order! i've asked about 10 ppl or so about their DATs, and 8 of them had their questions in order but 2 didn't--the poor 2.
