Basically need an MD or DO with either 12 credit hours specific to each credential area and successful completion of a residency or fellowship program with appropriate training.

Or MD or DO with 12 months of full-time ultrasound experience as well as 12 credit hours in each credentialed area

So, what counts as a "residency or fellowship program with appropriate training"? I couldn't find any answers on the site. Thanks!
 
I think our ultrasound director said you needed 500 scans before he would allow you to sit for the RDMS exam (your ultrasound director must write a letter verifying your training).

It's very doable considering I've already done 150 scans during the 3 weeks of my part-time (1-5) ultrasound rotation. Not to mention the other 150-250 done during my shifts.

ardms is now asking for 800 scans.
 
Yup. 800 scans. And you don't have to have completed residency. (I am going to sit for it as soon as I find the damn time....) It requires a lecture course and sitting for the exam adn a letter from your director stating that you have the appropriate number of scans. I have been eligable for a few months (about to start pgy-3) I'm just having a hard time finding the time for the course.

And the bucks for the test.

If you do an EM ultrasound rotation in medical school and document your scans will this count towards your 800 or do you start the clock over in residency?
 
From the RDMS website

"Original letter from residency/fellowship program director verifying dates of attendance and completion of a minimum of 800 studies in the area in which you are applying."

Sounds like you'll have to start over.
 
What exactly is the benefit of being rdms certified?
