Recently I was accepted to DO school, but failed one of my classes this semester. It is part of my graduate program and I have all of my pre-reqs completed. I was wondering if DO schools can rescind acceptances based on this? Please let me know. Thanks.

Read your acceptance letter; often your acceptance is contingent on passing all of your classes.

Regardless of what you read, CALL YOUR SCHOOL to find out details.

More importantly, is failing this class a sign you will struggle/fail out of medical school?

Call your school instead of reading speculation on here.

Speculation? No, its fact.

I'm also not sure I would call the school to alert them to your failed grade. If the course was required for graduation, I would be scheduling summer school asap.

I really don't know the best advice to give the OP, but if it were me, I wouldn't be announcing this to my med school without trying to discover the policy on this beforehand.

I agree...if the school does not need to know...then why tell them. If this course does not affect in anyway your ability to graduate or any of the pre-requisites, then how would the med schools know. Read the policy on your acceptance...that is key. Does it say fail ANY course or does it say they can pull your acceptance if you DONT graduate.

And not only do they require final transcripts, but if you read your letter of acceptance, most state "completion of all classes in satisfactory manner" or some such thing. I've seen letters that state completion of classes in a manner consistent with prior performance, and other that require at least a B average, no classes less than a C, etc.

You don't want to be blindsided by a withdrawal of your acceptance. If you don't want to call yourself, have a friend call. Preferably a friend who didn't apply to medical school.

wait wait wait...this failed class is in a graduate level program? Meaning you have completed your undergraduate degree with all the prerequisites for med school? Why does your med school need to know this? Graduate level classes are not required for matriculation into any medical school.

That's what I thought.

thanks for all the advice.

I did not fail.

I called the school. As long as I graduate in good standing (ie dont get kicked out) because its not undergrad and does not include science classes or pre-reqs they dont care even if I got an F.

But if I were to get an F i'd have gotten kicked out of the grad program and potentially gotten kicked out of med school.
