Hi all, looking for some advice on a reapplication. Details are as follows:

I am 4 years out of undergrad from a top 20 school. Graduated with a 3.8 in a science major but only completed half of my prereqs as an ug. I did post-bacc classes at a local liberal arts college after college and got a 4.0. Overall, 3.85 cumulative and 3.83 science GPA. I did transfer schools after my freshman year and ended up having to do one of my post-bacc classes at a different institution due to scheduling issues (explained this on my apps), so I had 4 transcripts overall.

514 MCAT: 130/130/128/126

As an undergrad:
-2 yrs clinical research with a first-author pub in a well known journal (750 hrs)
-shadowing in 3 diff specialties (150+ hrs)
-mentored an adult with a developmental disability (50 hrs)
-part of campus sexual health awareness group (had to apply to get in) (150 hrs)
-taught health lessons to elementary schoolers and was a lesson leader one semester (200 hrs)
-free clinic volunteer (75 hrs)
-had a job doing data collection in a fly lab (150 hrs)
-admin assistant at Drs office (650 hrs)

After college:
-worked for two yrs out of college as a program coordinator at a hospital for a program that gave low income/minority teenagers summer jobs at the hospital and personal development workshops, then worked as a nanny for a year while studying for the MCAT
-during the past year (while I was applying), I worked as a medical assistant in a doctor's office. I included this on my app, but had just started the job when I submitted it.
-also had two side jobs as a social media assistant & grants assistant
-will be working on a political campaign over the next year, going to try to find some clinical volunteering on the weekends

According to my pre-med advisor, my recs were good. I doubt they really stood out, though. I worked really hard on my personal statement and think it was pretty good.

I applied to 27 schools and got two holds before interview and one interview that turned into a waitlist. Still waiting that one out.

I think I applied to too many reach/low yield schools (also, I don't have a state school) the first time around and would have a better school list this time. I also would get a letter of rec from the dr I worked for as an MA for the past year. My pre-med advisor is really bad, but he doesn't seem to have any real reason for why I had such a crappy cycle and said he doesn't think it's my credentials. Another issue could be that my committee letter wasn't sent until after Labor Day last year...my school is really slow, but I think I can finish my app a few weeks earlier this year (had to wait for MCAT scores last year), and hopefully have my letter sent out by mid-August.

These are the schools I'm considering this time around. I'm from the northeast just fyi. I'd like to narrow it down to about 20-23 schools. I'm open to other suggestions, too.

Why can’t your committee letter be sent in earlier, especially since they already did it last year?

25% of interview invites go out in August so ideally you’d be complete before then.

The advisor said it takes them a month to send it after AMCAS verification. I have no idea why that is. I’m still working on a new PS so I’m guessing I’ll be able to submit in 1-2 weeks.

If you submit within 1-2 weeks of today, you should be verified by mid June.
