Ohio resident looking to reapply.

I was really anticipating getting into a school this year. I applied, did not get any acceptances, got 1 wait list and 1 silence. I highly doubt I will get off of Nova's wait list.

I tanked my GPA this semester. I will be going from about 3.9 to about 3.5. my DAT is 21/21/18.

My question is how should I go about re-applying this coming cycle. I have 1 semester left, mostly science, that I anticipate doing very well in. I can get my GPA up to about 3.6.

Any advice would help. Thanks!

I am a reapplicant. Whatever you do, apply as early as possible which should be easy considering your stuff should be already ready to go. I repeat do not apply late!!!

I thought I read that you only applied to two schools or maybe I read that wrong. You should definitely apply to at least 5 or more schools (as many as you can afford!!)

If you're worried about your stats just make sure you're right on target or better than the schools previously accepted students' stat averages. This should be available on their website or with a quick Google search. That way you are competitive and first in line for an interview.

Additionally you may contact the previous schools you've applied to and ask how to make your application stronger for next round. When I asked everybody said apply earlier !

Hope this helps!

I'm shocked you didn't get in if, at the time of application, you had a 3.9 and a decent DAT score... What's the rest of the story? Shadowing/volunteering/were you applying OOS?/any other ECs to set you apart?

101 shadowing hours with 6 different dentists (2 specialties)
4-5 years of work
Some various extracurricular, nothing too special
3 interviews out of 4 schools applied to
Ohio resident, applied to OSU, Midwestern AZ, Nova (FL), LECOM (FL), silence from LECOM
2 rejections, 1 wait list at Nova but their wait list is huge
I thought my interview was good, I am very well spoken. Maybe I might come off as arrogant ?
I had 81 credit when I applied, not that much I know. I think this is why honestly.

Honestly I believe in the methodology that if any school is ready to interview you, they are ready to accept you, conditional on them wanting to buy what you're selling at the interview. Now some people might say an interview is only a part of the application, they take your application back into the committee room and compare you with others and accept some while rejecting some. But with most adcoms I've talked to or heard from, if a school interviews you the ball is really in your court.
I would review the way you are interviewing for the future cycle, I hope that helps.

This is probably it. I hear back from OSU in February.

Don't count out MWU-AZ yet. I didn't get an interview there until Feb. 2 years ago and was accepted a month later in March. Keep them updated on any changes in your app that will help you.

Good luck!
