I'll be re-applying this cycle after being waitlisted at ACOM and Touro-NY from this cycle. Since last app cycle, I increased my cGPA 0.16 points, sGPA 0.16 points, and added more community service with meals on wheels.
cGPA: 3.05, sGPA: 3.46, MCAT: 27 (9/9/9), Non-trad and Midwestern resident
DO Shadowing: 50 hours, MD Shadowing: 4 hours
Behavioral health hospital tech for 3 years ~7500 hrs paid employment
DO letter of rec as well as 2 science and 1 non-science
Plent of undergad ECs & volunteering from way back in the day
Last 58 credit hours=3.73 GPA
The list

ATSU-SOMA, KCOM, CUSOM, CCOM, MUCOM, DMU, PCOM-GA, PNWU, RVU, Touro-CA, Western-Lebanon

Some are reaches and I am also starting KCUMB's BMS program in August and need a 3.25 after first semester for an automatic interview to the COM. I hope to submit in the next week or so.

Any input/advice would be appreciated and thanks!

I would skip KCUMB's program and just reapply as is. Also make sure to update the schools you are waitlisted at. Do not hesitate to apply to schools like COMP, NSU and AZCOM if you are interested in them.

He's a reapplicant w/ a cGPA close to 3.0 and you're telling him to skip the KCUMB program?

Unless he has something better to do in that time frame I don't think he should skip it.

Add LMU-DCOM to the list. The quicker the app in the better. Also add in KYCOM.

the science GPA more than makes up for it. His MCAT is right at the median and the sgpa is above average.

and reapplicant status seems to be more an issue with MD than DO schools. I would not worry about that.

Don't bother with TU-CA. I had better stats and EC and didn't even get an invite.

I agree with this. No need for an extra program.

This is all I'm seeing

Congratulations on raising the GPA but going from the waitlist of ACOM to wanting an acceptance at CCOM takes a bunch of changes on the application.

As a reapplicant he has 11 schools.

ATSU-SOMA has a pretty specific mission.

KCOM, CCOM, DMU and RVU have average stats higher than his.

He doesn't need to do the Masters but he needs to do SOMETHING that drastically improves his application.

A friend of mine had higher stats but didn't even get an II to WesternU. Sometimes it's not all stats.

he should definitely add a few more low tiers, but overall I think his profile is fine. He should have enough ii's to get in somewhere, at least to a mid-tier school.

You might want to reconsider PNWU, regardless of stats, only because it has a regional bias. If you're interested in practicing rural medicine or have some connection to the NW it might be worthwhile, otherwise you might skip it.

Thanks for the replies. I plan on doing KCUMB regardless since the post-bac undergrad grade repair just hasn't seemed to do me any favors. I personally would love to go to KCUMB COM and wouldn't have a shot there without this program but realize I can't just bank on getting in there. Yes, some of these schools are reaches but I have a solid upward trend on my last ~60 credits around 3.73ish.

I may scratch tu-ca and PNWU from the list and sub in azcom and LECOM.
