I was wait listed at a school last year post interview but it never materialized into an acceptance. I'm reapplying this year- should I bother applying there again?
i believe i applied sort of late, my secondary was in by early October and I was given an interview opportunity in early December for a date in January. My stats aren't ideal but from my talk with the admission lady, she told me that the school thinks my stats are fine to get into the school. The interview could have definitely been bad, thoughWell I believe you can apply again. Of course you need to understand why they didn't accept you. Was it because you were late in the cycle? Were you early but you screwed up the Interview? Was it that your stats were to low(Low Mcat?). There are so many factors. However when you re-apply, they always ask what you made stronger this year. I would ask @Goro to see what he thinks.
Did you call and ask the school for feedback? If you didn't, then it could of been helpful in the question of why you didn't get accepted.i believe i applied sort of late, my secondary was in by early October and I was given an interview opportunity in early December for a date in January. I was not able to get feedback. I called but I was never able to get a hold of her. Mind you, I only recently found out that the class was full and there wouldn't be any more movement on the wait list so I suppose I can still keep calling. I have basically just been working since last application cycle but I've been shadowing a DO. I won't be able to ask him to write me a letter of Rec since I plan on sending in secondaries either today or tomorrow but it's something they asked about during the interviewDid you call and ask the school for feedback? Also I believe Jan is a bit late in the cycle but I'm not 100% sure. However applying secondary right now in August is definitely early, so you should have a much better chance now, but again, did you improve things? Did you add on more Ec's? Better grades? letters of rec? They probably will look for improvement in applications.
Its fine to ask for a letter if they take a while, I submitted secondaries to many school a while ago and just barely am getting a letter of rec from a DO. Keep shadowing, it gives you hours, a possible letter and many experiences to speak about. And they will see your letter by AACOMAS.I was not able to get feedback. Yeah from other threads here it seems like she's never in her office. I didn't leave a message because o can't pick up the phone for most of the day and i feel like playing phone tag with her wouldn't be a good thing. Maybe I could make an exception and just keep my phone on me during the day for this call. I have a letter from an MD but should I send in my secondary with it or should I hold off on my secondary until I get a DO letter? The doctor I'm shadowing now is very busy and I'd have to shadow another doctor to get oneIts fine to ask for a letter if they take a while, I submitted secondaries to many school a while ago and just barely am getting a letter of rec from a DO. On the feedback, I'm not really sure to be honest if you keep calling. I mean has she just been busy or do you just leave messages or whats happening there?
Depends on how good you think the letters are. If you are super close with the MD and knows that he/she wrote you a GREAT letter, then use than over a mediocre DO letter. If they are roughly the same, then send the DO.Yeah from other threads here it seems like she's never in her office.
