I applied after my senior year and I received rejection from many schools due to poor dat score and lower gpa, but retaking the exam in August, and starting a masters in this fall.

I am willing to reapply this summer, and wondering if they should see a different personal statement. I haven't done anything to add it on my application except work! Even though the newest update will be availabe in december (my fall grades of master).

What should I do?

I think you should definitely rewrite. Hopefully you matured and grew wiser over the past year. Your personal statement should reflect this.

Don't be lazy; not rewriting your ps gives the image of being lazy and uncaring; if I was an admissions officer I would nearly completely write you off then and there.

The admissions department has already thrown away last year's applications.

This means that three things have to happen.
1. The admissions committee has to be composed of the same people (probably true).

2. Someone on the admissions committee has to recognize and remember your personal statement and then identify it (without doubt) as the same one submitted last year (highly unlikely).

3. The person on the admissions committee who recognizes your PS has to care that you submitted a duplicate (possible, but unlikely because there are other things that are more important).

Take home message - It's probably not a big deal, but error on the side of safely and make some changes and some tweaks. You do not need to re-vamp the entire essay though.

Without some significant changes it is had to expect to have results that is significantly different from the one you already experienced.

I feel that it is important to change it to show how you have matured since your rejection and improved over the year.

I already feel like taking DAT in August seem late.

Well anyway they won't look at my application till they receive the updated fall grades, so I thought there's no need to rush the exam.. I have to nail it this time:xf:.. Also I have nothing to add to p.s. as I got busy with work the last few months.

Do you really want to become a dentist? You didn't get in last year and did nothing to improve you application? August is on the late side if you are truly trying to get an interview, much less an acceptance. Why do you think they won't look at your application until your fall grades are in? Unless you don't submit your application until late fall, you may be rejected by then. If you sound this carefree in your personal statement you should apply to nursing school...you don't sound serious about dentistry. If you truly want it, get off your butt and take it serious this time.
