Defintely yes on the first on. I would recommend getting another LoR also, although it may not be absolutely neccesary.
well hopefully you would WANT to update both your PS and letters...
maybe you could have your profs update the letters with the stuff you've done over the past year to improve your application.

If you thought you wrote a fantastic PS this year, then maybe you can just tweak it. If you're still in school, see if your school's career centre has someone who proof-reads grad school applications, and maybe then can help.

i re-wrote my personal statement. i also had additional profs send in their LOR... maybe just 1 and my pre-health committee wanted an updated resume to add stuff to my committee letter - or so they told me.
i volunteered over the summer and i think i sent in a letter detailing what i had done: stuff i worked with, what additional procedures i shadowed/assisted with, how that experienced has improved me as an applicant. nothing fancy, just a short page.
just for fun, whenever i see someone refer to personal statement as PS... i always misread it as PoS, which i hope it's not. =)

definatelly rewrite your PS.
Also, contact the schools that you "hypothetically" got rejected from and express your strong interest in getting in next year - ask what you can do differently to get in aka asking why you didn't get in this cycle.

I would personally re-write my PS. I would include your reflection on what happened this year (it's not like it's a bad thing and you can't hide it from schools anyway) and how much you really want this.
Also, you have a year to explore in research, dental experieneces, more courses, and etc. You should definitely ask your professors to update your LORs because they will have more good things to talk about you after this year.
This may seem like a lot of work, but just remember that you will know a lot more than many first-time applicants regarding the process and hopefully dental schools will see your strong desire for the field 😉😀😎
