Hello!

For those who have re-applied or are planning to reapply, how much of your original application did you keep vs. update? I have heard you should update your personal statement, experiences, achievements, etc. But some of my experiences / achievements cannot be described further than what I had already written. Would it look bad to use what I wrote the first time I applied?

I think you can use the same descriptions for experiences/achievements, but it's more important to have a different PS and at least updated (if not new) LORs. Maybe successful reapplicants can chime in too about what they did. @JustFlossIt comes to mind 🙂

@artist2022 Thank you for responding!! How much of the PS should be changed? Do you think it is okay if I keep most of it or would that look bad to dental schools? Would they be able to see my previous application to compare? Sorry for all the questions lol🤣

I would say to write a new one tbh

I'm sure the school may have downloaded your application from this current cycle, but I'm not sure if AADSAS makes it available to them. I wouldn't risk it and would instead try to write a new one... maybe keep the same ideas going but I wouldn't suggest keeping it mostly the same.

Hey! I reapplied last cycle and am now a D1. I remember most of my application being the same. I used the same letters of recommendation and asked the writers to update what I was doing at the time just so there was something new in the letters. But I also had an additional letter of recommendation. So 4 letters in total (3 science prof, 1 dentist). I kept my reason for dentistry the same in my PS but rearranged and added to the original statement. I hope this helps. Best of luck!
