Re-applying

I was just curious on the process of re-applying. This is only if I don't get into a graduate program, I was wondering if I should use the same letters of references from my academic professors, however, I am aware it is better to receive new letters from physical therapists. Is re-applying basically the same as the initial procedures to applying into a graduate program and if so what are the materials that I could reuse and what can I not.

I reapplied this year after not getting in the last cycle. I used all of my letters of rec over again. I did however had to ask the professors and my physical therapist to resend it to PTCAS which was a huge pain. My personal information remained in tact, as well as my course work from last year which I submitted the first time around. The only thing I had to do was send all my transcripts again, because I took other courses while I was applying last year. I had to pay for all the programs over again with the added cost of sending in my GRE scores as well(this pained me the most). Oh, the essay question was different as well lol.

I think it's worthwhile to consider why you got rejected the first time. When I reapplied, I knew my major weakness was my GPA. So I didn't worry too much about re using references and essays and such. But if your references didn't know you that well, then potentially that could have been a reason you got rejected the first time....and would obviously want to seek new references. Review everything and also make sure you meet all the school's minimums and stuff (i.e. a particular GPA calculation or a certain type of reference.) I learned, after my first time applying, that schools often do not let you know specifically why you were rejected....it may have simply been they had an obscure requirement and you overlooked.

So you haven't yet applied? Or you are applying this cycle but haven't yet been rejected? If you are not yet actually in the position of needing to re-apply, then I say cross that bridge when you get to it. Why are you so concerned about needing to re-apply anyway?

If you do find yourself in that situation, you would definitely want to do as starrsgirl suggested and call each school to find out what the weaknesses of your app were and why you got rejected.

Off course, I was just curious. I tend to look ahead as opposed to looking at the present. Thank you for the advice. And yes I have applied to various colleges.
