hey everyone,

if you get rejected from a school and you know it is because of your mcat and you retake and submit a significantly higher score before the app deadline, is your file re-opened by the schools that rejected you or do you have to wait until the following yr? thanks!

I don't know each schools policy, but once you are rejected I don't think your file will be re-opened. Get in touch with the admissions dept at the school you are interested in to find out for sure.

However, if you are planning a MCAT retake, by all means let the schools know before you take it. Some schools will wait to make a decision on your app pending a retake, if the MCAT score was the go or no go factor.

I don't have any clue how it works for pod schools but I would assume it is similar to DO and MD programs. When I applied to those programs and they received new scores, they DID re-open my file. I got several more interview invites from schools that had already rejected me based on my old score. I agree with that1guyfromFL though, you should probably check with the schools just in case.

Once you're officially rejected for a given cycle that's it. You can tell them that you're retaking the exam and they'll wait to make a decision.
