AA: 18
PAT: 13 :scared:
GPA Science : 4.0
GPA Overall: 3.5

I am very concerned about my low PAT score, the angle ranking on the actual DAT was much more difficult than in the Kaplan practice test. Am I not going to be considered for interviews because of a low PAT??

Please help!!!

Thanks in advance

I don't think anyone is going to be able to tell you whether you'll be rejected straight out. Your gpa is good, and your DAT is above average.

Right now it's hard to consider retake, because the next sitting for you will be in mid- late january. If i were in your situation and i've already submitted my apps, i would sit and wait. And also sign up for a retake, because if things don't work out, i'll retake to get higher scores for next cycle.

Best of luck in your studies.

U do realize that ur problem has nothing to do with angle ranking right?

A 13 on the PAT means u missed 40 to 50 of the questions out of the 90...

U need to get ur hands on a more serious PAT practice tests like CDP and topscore (assuming u have to retake)

Good luck

Of course it has something to do with my poor score, if I would have gotten more of them correct I would have gotten a better score.

All I was trying to say was that the I noticed a huge difference in the difficulty between the Kaplan and DAT ange ranking sections.

Dentalworks was just pointing out that you attributed your low PAT score to difficult angle questions and how that section alone couldn't have wrecked your DAT score - you had to have missed a few in every section. he/she was only suggesting that you should try some different tests.

Yes...

I wasn't trying to be rude to ya, I was just pointing out that there is something wrong with ur initial preparation and u just needed to modify a few things here and there

After I posted, I looked over tha PAT scoring chart, u basically got 26-31 correct (out of the 90), in my opinion that's VERY low, and (again this is just my opinion), if I was in ur shoes, I would right away start preparing for a retake

I agree with dentalWorks. Although your GPA is admirable, your low PAT score will likely put you at risk in terms of admissions. In addition, an AA of 18 is OK, but if you study the statistics of the majority of schools nowadays, 18 is the minimum or average score of applicants/accepted students. To be considered competitive, you will want to be beyond this.

Your strong GPA reflects a well-versed background in the sciences and likely a good work ethic. My first AA was also 18, and a retake produced an AA of 21 and PAT of 20 – and my GPA is not as high as yours. You have the edge to give you the few points you need to send you over the 20 mark. A PAT score of 13 can easily be remedied with motivation and enough practice (I recommend the Crack DAT PAT software – you’re right, Kaplan is not enough in terms of difficulty, though their methods are good). Admitted, it is more difficult to improve when you are already in a higher tier (i.e. the 17-20 range). Focus, and practice. You can do it.
