I had pretty strong letters of recommendation last app cycle that I'd like to reuse... except, I don't have an Interfolio account, so I submitted them straight to AMCAS. Is there a way to use those letters again? I can get a letter from my PI again with not much trouble (since I still work there) but two of the profs that wrote letters for me are no longer at the university this year (one is on sabbatical, one is teaching at another college). I'm asking around for more letters, but it would be great to be able to re-use them...

EDIT: 20. How long are my letters valid?
AMCAS will retain and deliver letters only within a single application year.

🙁

new question, i guess: do profs generally retain their old LORs?

I think that in today's technologically literate society that you can count on your writers keeping an electronic copy of their past letters. I don't think that it would hurt to have them "update" how long they have known you.

Just email your writers and ask if they still have them and update them on what you have been doing and ask them to update your letters accordingly.
