I just took my first Bootcamp test fully timed (TEST 2) for RC which is my weakest subject. I got "less than 15" on it and only got eighteen questions right! This is quite frustrating because I spent my entire last week taking Qvault RC tests and I got 18s on all of them and one 19 meaning I got more than 28 questions right! I know Bootcamp and Qvault are very different in the types of questions they ask with Bootcamp being wayyy more analylitcal. I am afraid I have heard the RC on the real test is more like Bootcamp, and most of my questions today were missed on the last passage as I did not finish it so I missed 10 right away which added to my low score. Is their anything I can do immediately to prepare I feel like Qvault gave me a false reading now...

Now before I started my preparations for RC I came on SDN and asked various people about their strategies I picked one and executed. I was comfortable most with the method below which I used on all qvault tests, I was able to read all passages and answer all questions on Qvault but on BC I had trouble finishing period...

My method: Look at the first question if it is search and destroy keep reading the paragraphs (for understanding no skimming) until I find the answer. Then then repeat that until all search and destroy types of questions have been answered. I skipped all tone and central thesis questions until the end. I am a below average speed reader so I know this is contributing to my consistent lower than norm scores... Doing this allowed me to consistently score 18 on Qvault no problem but I got DESTROYED in BC!

When I first started studying for reading I was pleased with 18 being it is my weakest section but was striving to break at least a 20, right now I am praying for an 18. Any help of tweaking my method will be very much appreciated

I also did bad on the second Bc reading. I think that one was harder than the others because the language wasn't as easy to understand. Test 1 I got 19, 3 I got 23, and 4 I got 24. I used s&d.

Bro, well its my luck isn't it I was being silly when I first used my BC test I used up all of 1, 3, 4 during the weeks of just doing a passage here or there individually so I never got a real assessment of my BC scores. Then I did quvault RC for a week got all 18s. Then I finally got back to BC tests today but only have TEST 2 full length left untouched so I did that because I wanted to see my improvement after doing a week of Qvault. I have all of test 5 left so I guess we will see. If you dont mind how bad did you do on test 2 was it as bad as me because right now I am crushed trying to figure out how I can at least pass a 18 on this test ugh

I got a 23/50 lol, I did terrrrrrrrrrrible. I couldn't understand the first passage at all. It was pretty hard even though I took ecology and evolution.

The key is to not let a low score on a practice discourage you. I've done some reading comprehension exams on bootcamp, and they were difficult (especially with the statement/reason questions and the complexity of the passages Ari uses). It seems like the actual RC is comparatively easier than BC's RC, but RC is always a crapshoot and you may get a passage that is dull or hard to understand. The best way to approach it is to do everything systematically so you don't find yourself lost and discouraged during the exam (you have to build the mental stamina to push through). I took the 2009 exam and its RC was tough (I got a 36/50, which converted to a 18 despite doing better on other RC practices). I would say to stick to the strategy you have been using if your exam is soon (mine is in 2 days), and to polish/refine it. Otherwise, try different methods and see which one yields you a better score (perhaps for bootcamp, try 2-3 different methods on one RC section for the 3 different passages and see which passage/method you got more questions right on).

Ok I got a 18 questions correct so we were not that much off ya well I feel like a good bit of the tests on Bootcamp are pretty difficult to understand. Unlike you I can't take the tests for BC since I burned through them so I guess I will have to assess it on the TEST 5 which I have not used. I am reviewing my Qvault and comparing it to my BC questions right now. And the qvault questions types are sooo different than BC, the questions on Qvault are easy to search and destroy compared to BC I think this is the sole reason why I have such a deviation in my score. Did you take the qvault tests?

I have not taken Qvault, but have heard good things about it.

I highly recommend that you force yourself to sit through an entire bootcamp test (Ari's science and PAT sections are extremely helpful). The RC is dull, and sometimes it is difficult to sit for an hour and do 3 passages + questions, but it definitely won't hurt. The more practice you get, despite getting low scores, the better you will do on your RC. RC isn't something that most people think can be improved greatly (most people just throw their hands up and say, "well I was never good at reading anyway... so I'll just focus on science etc"). Practice is key, and conditioning your mind to stay focused throughout an entire passage/section will be fruitful in the end.

thx god im not the only one T_T i got below 15 on the first one and 16 on the 2nd one..... i just want to get like 18 on this section...RC is my worst nightmare!

So you got a 15 on your first BC Test 1? Someone was telling me that the one I took (Test 2) was apparently the hardest one they have. Did you observe this too? Right now I am aiming for a 18 to but since I am a slow reader just reading fast and digesting the material fast enough is what I am trying to get done first

I just took the DAT yesterday and in my opinion, BC is much harder. I struggled to finish every single BC test on time and I was averaging 19. The real DAT was so straightforward...I got a 24 on the RC part and it wasn't bad at all. I actually thought that CDR was more representative than BC.

Well like I said man I have never been the best at RC I have been getting 18s and 19s on Qvault I will be taking my first CDP reading Comp test today, its just I wish I had gotten at least an 18 on BC so I know I would be getting a pretty high score on the real test
