It's really not about how fast you can read, it's about how well you can figure out the structure of the text and remember which portions of the text focus on what topic(s), so that you can refer to them ASAP, when you read a question relating to a specific topic. Also, being able to summarize each paragraph without the need to write anything down would greatly help you. You can only manage all of this if you do lots and lots of practice. Reading 1 hr a day wouldn't help you much, unless you have some questions being asked about what you read. So, just use the material provided by TopScore, Achiever, Kaplan, etc. to get a lot of practice. Also, don't expect results overnight. The first time I did KAPLAN's RC practice test#1 I ended up with a pathetic 45%. After 2 months of practice I was scoring anywhere between 82-87% and I got a 23 on the real exam. So, don't get disappointed if you don't do as well as you expect in the begining.

I also had a question about reading comp! On topscore and achiever I have been getting 20-23 so I haven't prepared for it at all. But everyone mentions how there are tone questions and more inference type of questions which I didn't really encounter in the practice tests. Do you think this practice score is accurate in indicating how I will do on the real DAT? Please let me know!

thanks nze for the advice!! I have a little bit less than a month, any advice on how to start and manage my time? I've used kaplan and I felt they were a lot easier, but I still didnt try Topscore reading, I should get started with it.
