I have done abt a year and a half of basic sciences--only thing haven't taken is pharm--have a lot of lag time during rotations so i thought abt reviewing material for step 1, don't take it until may (im in a combined degree program, curric a bit difft--start roatations our 2nd year, class of '07).
Our phys and pharm were really poorly taught unfortunately. I have picked up costanzo's text to read--but seems like it's taking forever to read, plus i don't think i am VERY motivated right now. I want to do extremely well on the big thing, have done fairly well in classes--but just seems like it's taking forever to read that phys book-- i mean i can't imagine reading this, then brs path and maybe goljans, and then all the other low yield subjects--It just seems that even if i studied this far in advance i won't be completely ready. I want to read all the books before i hit FA -- it's hard to use that as a primary source, provided that our phys and path were weak (path > phys). As said multiple times on thsi forum--you have to read the major books (FA, BRS, etc) multiple multiple times --I just feel like I won't have time, I have 2-3 months basically off preceding may--I never read the review books during classes (big mistake) because our professors stressed the importance of reading robbins and guytons--a big WASTE!--I din't learn anything reading robbins in the short amount of time we had, so now im reading these rvw books for the first time. I figured I would start ahead and read them thoroughly once through, so a couple months before boards, i would have had a good grasp already and be familiar with the books
what do you guys think? Do you think after having going thru it once thoroughly, it would be much much faster and easier to read em over and over again and be successful? My goal is to exceptionally well--and I'm motivated, but a bit scared and lost--any input would be of great help--thanks a lot.
