Well the first blow came when I got my actual GPA back from AMCAS.
My undergraduate gpa is downright horrible (I knew that), but my post bac GPA is near perfect (3.98). I just thought it would have brought my cumulative GPA up higher, it's at a 3.2.

I have an OK MCAT score, 32 (12P, 9VR, 11B).

My LORs should be really good (pre med committee loves me, shadowed a physician that seemed to really want me to go to med school)

Done multiple relief trips overseas, and a bunch of other volunteering activities.

When I started getting secondaries I was feeling pretty good. I've gotten most of them in within 4 or 5 days.

And then...I happened to stumble upon a few threads here about people applying to medical schools also with a 3.2 GPA and similar MCATs and also got all their secondaries in, only to be rejected later.

Am I totally screwed, or what?

I am flippin out now...

With 3.2 and 32, your chances are low for MD admission. Your state school would be your best option. However, you are golden for DO admission.

You can look at mdapps and youll find a lot of 3.2 3X rejections yes. What is your home state? Do you have a "forgiving" or in state heavy preference state school? If you're from say Texas, great chances but somewhere like Cali, you might be looking at DO.

AMCAS All Applicant acceptance data tables (accessible through sector9's "Success Rate" sticky at the top of this forum) do not take into account all information, so they can be misleading. For example, they don't specify possible mitigating factors, like Special Masters Program completion with a GPA>3.7, stand-out extracurriculars, non-traditional age, legacy factor, membership in an underrepresented population group, interest in rural med or inner-city med, first family member to attend college, economic disadvantage, people with PhDs, ex-military, participants in Teach for America, AmeriCorps, or the Peace Corps, steep upward GPA trend for 2-3 full-time semesters, very-high BCPM GPA, forgiving state schools, etc.

The key is applying carefully. There are some schools that willsneer at you,a nd others that reward re-invention.

I suggest the low tier schools like Rosy Franklin and NYMC, plus these: Tulane, Albany, Drexel, Tufts, SUNY-Upstate, and BU

Also, aim for ALL new MD programs, except PA.

Keep in mind you're fine for any DO program, including mine.
