I'm more of a football and baseball fan than a basketball fan.

I never watch an NBA game unless I go see one live.

I certainly don't care for the Heat.

but I can't wait for them to pound the Lakers!!!!

Everytime I see Lakersfan's avatar I can't help but look forward to that collection of rapists and douches going down.

dreaming. dwayne wade the adulterer is such a great role model as well. also haslem just getting arrested for 20gm of weed. also speaking of douches lebron is the most hated guy in the nba. typical laker hater statements. stick to mlb and nfl both great sports.

70+ wins. Much better team than the lakers, BUT the lakers have a much easier ride to the finals and could be more fresh. A talent exidus to the East has drained some western teams, Denver to soon follow. Orlando is still a beast because of the beast. Will be a fun year.

70+ wins? MUCH BETTER than the Lakers? Besides the big 3 the heat have nobody else and if Haslem goes down for that drug charge they will be lucky to get past orlando or boston.

first off although artest would probably guard lebron, kobe has proven he can shut down lebron, lebron hasn't proven he can shut down kobe. Bosh can not guard Gasol, maybe vice versa. NOONE will be able to hang with Bynum down low. Artest will most likely guard lebron and Kobe will guard Wade most likely. Because of Wade i'd say Miami has an advantage but not a huge one because of the Bynum factor. However the surrounding players, LAMAR ODOM, Steve Blake, D-fish, shannon brown are much better than the miami supporting staff so saying the Heat are MUCH better? cmon now...

NBA sucks. College basketball is where it's at. Also MLB and NFL as previously stated, though my excitement for football season is tempered by my unfortunate circumstance of being a Redskins fan.

You have quite a bit of laker bias. That said let's break it down. "70+ wins?" Yes, without significant injuries they just blow people out of the building. It's like the first 20 Mike Tyson fights; over in the first round.

"MUCH BETTER than the Lakers" Yes. The lakers are a good, not dominant team. They didn't run away with anything this year and are now a year older.

"Besides the big 3 the heat have nobody else." Complete Absurd. Haslem, Mike Miller, Z, some decent shooters in Jones and House, decent shotblocker in Anthony, few other big stiffs, and an adequate alternative ball handler in Arroyo. Guys doubled teamed their whole lives can no longer be double teamed. Double team anybody and who do you leave unguarded? Wade? LeBron? Bosh? Mike Miller? Or the Center 3 feet from a dunk? Dude, it's a friggin Olympic team. I'm hardly going out on a limb saying a healthy Heat team dominates the league.

"the surrounding players, LAMAR ODOM, Steve Blake, D-fish, shannon brown are much better than the miami supporting staff." That list hardly strikes fear in opponents. Lamar Odom is a great talent that has never lived up to his potential and it's unlikely this is the year he does. You'd rather Steve Blake shoot than Mike Miller? Really? Fisher is still clutch for a few shots, but like Artest, they are both shells of their former selves. Shannon Brown? Yeah, enter him in the slam dunk contest. As far as the game, come on, he's just another random player. Kobe guarding Wade is nuts. He's a lost a step or 2 and would have nothing left for offense.

Like I said, the lakers are good; they're not great. They do have a huge advantage of no Orlando type team to get them a playoff beatdown before the finals. Do they have a chance against Miami? Sure. But it would be an upset. Just watch the season unfold and get back to me after Miami has like an Edwin Moses type winning streak going. Now go fold those purple and gold boxers you eat sleep and work in. 🙂

Another typical Laker hater trivializing back to back titles. Talking about bias laker hater? If you haven't realized yet, championships are won with BIG MEN. bosh is not a big man, if you think big Z can do anything down low you are out of your mind. On paper of course the heat look pretty ridiculous, but guaranteeing 70+ wins is still truly absurd for a team you have not even seen play together yet. "Olympic team" ?? are you kidding me, granted lebron and wade are the two top players in the league but Bosh is playing a completely different role now than he did in Toronto. He is going to put up mediocre numbers, maybe grab some boards but he will be a defensively liability down low. Don't even mention nonfactors like mike miller or eddie house who may find maybe 5 shots each per game with the "King" and Wade demanding 90% of the shots.

I can not wait to get back to you when Miami does not win anything close to 70+ games. You need to stop playing fantasy basketball and watch some real games. More about just stats on paper, we have no idea what kind of chemistry these 3 egomaniacs will have. Get back to me when Miami DOES NOT make the NBA finals. Boston vs LA again.

p.s. i hope you don't take this personally because i really dont. i love talking sports and getting heated. so make fun of me all you want 🙂

57 wins and a late game 7 win is not a great dominant team in the annals of NBA history. You're a little too attached as a fan to rationally look at it.

and a heat team thats proved nothing yet is already GREAT? if they break 70 wins ill eat my hat. btw you keep blabbing about my attachment, however all i am doing is defending MY team against HATERS. its what sports fans do, plus if you read my statements I never made any claims that the lakers will do this or that. A champion is still a champion. Cavs won 61 games last year best record in the NBA does that make them great then?

looking forward to the season..

Great call Gypsy. Christmas Day was a blowout, and in LA no less. 15-1 December for Miami despite key injuries. Certainly learning how to play better together and even Bosh looks less like a woman out there, though he's still the biggest concern against rough big teams like the Celtics.

The Lakers look worse than just simply coasting through the regular season. In their favor though is an easier ride in the playoffs. The Celtics, Bulls, and Magic look tougher than the Mavs, Spurs, and Jazz.

I definitely think the West's dominance is fading, either from age (Spurs, Lakers) or trades (Suns). East teams are much younger/more dynamic.

Yeah, free agency or trades have shifted heavily east bound: Boozer, Garnett, Stoudamire, and probably Melo. What big name from the east has headed west?

you can probably add chris paul to the list in the near future as well.

On a side note the lakers will not win the title this year.

is it just me or do the spurs have the best record in the nba.

the lakers definitely have some work to do, i think artest needs to hit the bench. can't really defend their play right now.

Yeah, I agree, Artest's best days are long behind him. The Spurs are playing great, but even as a big Spurs fan I have some lingering doubt about sustaining that. A big plus for the Spurs is a brilliant coach who refuses to care about the regular season record and will keep the older guys well rested for the playoffs.

Kinda sad when you are half way to 70 wins (35-6) and even your own fans aren't convinced. But the Spurs proved those doubts valied.

Lakers are on the ropes. Any other series would be over, but the Lakers have a history of pulling crap out of their butt (01 Blazers, 02 Kings, 10 Celtics, for starters), and we are talking the Maverics, maybe historically the softest team ever. The Mavs lost 4 in a row to Miami in 06; not impossible to do it again.

Miami is cruising. Boston looks old. A win in Boston should put this one away. Miami has had lengthy hot and cold streaks all season long. Can they ride this hot streak through the last 3 series? Orlando losing, the Lakers probably losing, and Boston trading perkins let's Miami avoid those dominant big front lines.

Any predictions? I still say Miami, but not as sure thing as when I thought they signed a big 3 plus Haslem, as opposed to the reality of a big 2 1/2 and no Haslem. Still, if Wade and LeBron have it in gear you can win with a non-supporting cast such as Joel Anthony and Mike Bibby.

It'll probably be the Heat vs. winner of the Grizz/Thunder series.

Both of those teams are very young, dynamic, and can play from any part of the court. Very aggressive, too. I think the Mavs will lose to either.

I'm a Bulls fan, but the Heat (overall) are a more experience playoff team. I'd love to see the Bulls pound the Heat, though 👍
