Ready for vet school?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
good news vet school itself is actually more of a regression away from adulthood

Well, then I'm extra glad I decided to come back to it. I never really mastered the whole grown-up thing. 😛

That feeling first came to me at the beginning of this quarter and I don't know that it is going to leave. :scared:

Haha, it will leave eventually. But, unfortunately, probably not until 3rd year. Winter and spring of second year were for sure my two most brutal quarters, there were plenty of days when I hated vet school. Fall quarter of third year is a *tiny* bit better, then winter and spring are great 😀

THIS. Vet school is freaking high school all over again.

Another person's opinion: Dyce was the absolute only reason that I passed anatomy.

And no, I didn't read it over the summer. But in retrospect, I definitely should have. Just knowing dorsal vs ventral etc on the first day wouldve been helpful.

But anatomy is a weird, crazy course. I don't think any two people in my class studied for it the same. Just have to figure out what works for you... And try not to let other people bragging about how much they studied get into your head. 🙂

Just to clarify; I have nothing against Dyce. I like it and Pasquini both, for different reasons. I just think spending your summer before vet school trying to slog through an anatomy book is mostly wasted time.

But yeah, taking time to learn some basic terminology and anatomical directions would be worthwhile. Don't need an anatomy book to do it, though.

yeah, just get a plain white t-shirt and leggings, or a body suit if you must, and write in the anatomical directions plus general body parts (hock, flank, stifle, inguinal region, etc...). walk around in it for a week and you'll be set.

I like that idea! Hahaha

Echoing what JJohnston said - so glad that I am the Class Liaison for our next class - I think it reminds me a lot of how glad I am to be here. Also, reading through this thread made me realize just how jaded of a vet student I have become - I read all these happy comments and thought of a million discouraging things to say and then decided to keep my mouth shut, lol...

STILL LOVE vet school and wouldn't trade it for the world. Definitely don't hate it but the constant feeling of not being good enough starts to eat your soul away after a while. Hopefully there will be enough left to regrow my soul after school is done! 🙂

Ah well, back to writing up my behavior case.

Go 2016! 🙂

Just envision your soul residing in your liver, and you'll be fine 😛

 I think a lot of people out there just drank their souls into oblivion this weekend, if that's the case!!
