Do you mean "quit" work?

Thanks buddy 👍 In my defense, I was at work and pretty worn out while typing that. Gosh, wonder what type of mistakes I'll make as a worn-out resident 😱 I can see it now "yea nurse, give him 50mg of loratab for that cough"

Thank you to the person who corrected the OP's original spelling on this post...I was getting tired of reading this trying to imagine what future doctor couldn't differentiate quit from quite.

Lighten up--my goodness.

I've been working night shift (9:30 pm to 5:30 am) for about 3 years now at the trauma center as a phlebotomist and couldn't be more ready to be done! Night shift has a way of isolating you from the rest of the world. I am definitely ready for regular hours again. At least not ALL of rotations/residency will be overnight. Some is fine, but not every night. Oh, and I work 9 days on, 5 off. Ick. I can handle long call hours and do pretty well without sleep, and can't wait to be able to justify being exhausted by doing something that I've been working my whole life to achieve(unlike, say, phlebotomy, which, while it was a great filler job, has run its course).

Six more pay periods!!!! Whoa, I actually got lightheaded saying that.

Does anyone here know of any good forums where you can post about crappy cubicle jobs?

quite, quiet, quit were my spelling demons back in the day and I still have to sound it out sometimes.
When in doubt, use phonics: "kwit"

Anyone else out of school and working a full-time job before school starts and ready to quite working to just study? I guess I'm saying this cause I'm at work and working a 50hr week and am extremely tired. 🙁

What exactly do you people plan on studying before school starts? Are you talking just catching up and refreshing anat and med term? I'm going to relax for every last possible moment, besides some occassional med term study, b/c the next 4 years will be plump full of studying.

I meant study as in quiting ones job to only study in medical school. Heck no, I'm not touching a book until class starts. I drilled my brain for 4 1/2 yrs in college, so I'm just enjoying this summer.

3 months and five days and counting 😍

My last day is June 10th. I could be a lazy bum exactly two months from today. Woohoo!!!

Who is actually doing work today? I'm not

6 more weeks of stupid research and i'm done! Yay!

Been there for a while now...and a LEAST a year left.

13 more weeks to go!!! Not that I'm counting or anything...

11 more weeks for me :-D

...and yes, I am counting!

I will work till the end of July as a programmer. Now I am just training new hires to take over my ****. 😀

I am soooooooooooooooo excited to start school. Right now, I have been on a conference call for 20 minutes, yes 20 FREAKING minutes, and take a guess at what we've learned in 20 MINUTES.

Today, we've learned about this new form of technology called the "internet," which is comprised of various "websites." Each "website," is composed of various "webpages." And on these "webpages," there are things called "hyperlinks," also known as "links." If you click on a "hyperlink," it will take you to another webpage. (I know this is alot of vocab to pile into one conf call, but wow the technology is AMAZING!)

Suprisingly enough, we have now been going over how to navigate a website using hyperlinks for 24 MINUTES. Uh oh...someone just talked about uploading a document and it has caused all kinds of panic. We're saving this for next week.

Sorry for the rant. Thank GOD for mute codes. Did I mention that I'm ready to quit?

I have to meet with my PI and others about when I'm done, if I'm taking a vacation before, do I have to train a replacement, etc...

I'm leaving for sure in the beginning of July... WEE!!!

9 weeks and counting. :wow: I am trying to hold on but not sure if I can. Maybe a part time job at the mall will do What to do. what to do

Katrina kicked my PhD totally out of wack and shifted my house off the foundation!

I was suppose to be done by now and working to stash cash and travel.

Now, I'm scrabbling to finish my experiments WHILE writing my dissertation!

I'm not even going to get into the tens of thousands I've spent on my house...which isn't done yet.

I'm just hoping to get out to california with a week or two of much needed R&R...

If I could, I would!

Had to vent.

I think this thread is for me as well, I thought I was lazy too, but I am so glad to see that I am not the only one who feels unmotivated!

I am in a dilemma because I don't think I am working this summer. I am taking a CNA class that doesn't start till June 5th and it is 5 weeks long. After that no one wants to hire someone for a month or so...

Luckily this class pays a little, I'll still probably make around $1000. My question is if anyone feels like answering: Do you have anything saved in the bank? I have always had a goal to make each summer and I've met it. This summer I will be lucky if I maintain my $5000 that I have now (which unfortunately is so much lower than I had last semester). Not trying to sound stupid, but I am so used to saving, I am having a hard time accepting that I will be spending my money this summer.

I know I will be so in debt $5000 doesn't even make a dent in my debt that I will have, but does anyone else have this problem? I have so many fun things I could do but I am having trouble letting myself spend money!

What is wrong with me?!

Don't Worry about it!! I have been engineering for the last several months. I had all of these big dreams of saving 10-15k to put back for school, but that's not gonna happen. I recently started purchasing things needed for school(laptop, tuition deposit, apartment leases, furniture, etc) and all of my savings took a big nose dive.

I think you hit the nail on the head with the fact that the majority of us will be so in debt that 5k won't matter. My advice would be to enjoy your summer and know that many others are going through the same thing.

HaHa. I put in my notice late last week right before my boss was going on a 10 day cruise to the carribbean.  She totally flipped out and nearly started crying, then proceeded to hug me and say how she knew I wanted to quit. Great observation. 😛 😎

My last day is June 9th. WooHoo. Then making the move to Philly on June 10th. Then who knows what i'm going to do while there...maybe pick up another hole-in-the-wall job to make a few bucks a week. 😕

I'm putting mine in before my boss/manager takes a month or so off for personal reasons  . I hate quitting... it's strange when you have to look someone in the eyes and say that. Oh well, I'm sick of night shift.

I've been saving since November '05. I've never had as much money as I do right now in the bank <I'm not going say how much  >. It's a good feeling but it's not going to last long as I know I'll drain it completely by the end of the summer.

Did you know you can just take the CNA test without having to take the class?

You can? How? Can you do that in MI?

I know if I take a class it can cost me money. This class is paid for by a health system and pays $6 an hour. But if I can just take a test I'd rather do that. Can you give me more info?? 😕

A month and 25 days till freedom!!! (well, least till school starts)

I called my local Community College that offers the program and said I wanted to sign up for the CNA test. Although you might want to check with the place you want work at. Testing only is equivalent to a 75 hour CNA course. That might not be enough to work at some place.
