Is it just me or do alot of people feel like they are not knowlegeable enough to start a residency. Im on a medicine sub I now (3 months away from graduating) and sometomes am still lost during rounds.

I definitely feel that way and I would say most do as well. I think the first 6 mo of intern year are the toughest but also where you learn a lot. Everyone tells me to just enjoy the rest of my time and nothing I do or read now will prepare me for intern year.

I'm in a surgery sub-I right now, and I can tell you that the first few days were rough. I forgot a TON of stuff in the past year. Add-up all of those cushy elecitves I've been taking over the past 4 months... it was a recipe for disaster. I scrubbed on what should have been an easy case, and because I was the fourth year I got the crap pimped out of me by the attending surgeon. I basically couldn't answer any of his questions. The resident just laughed at me when, every time I tried to open mouth, for some reason only something stupid came out. I started sweating so much that my face shield fogged-up - literally. I finally just started saying "I don't know" to every question he asked. The coup de grace was when the attending said, "Are you really going to graduate soon? Are you sure? No, you understand what I'm asking you, right? I mean are you really sure?"

Any guesses why I'm becoming an anesthesiologist?
