I just finished Chad's Ochem vids, and am feeling VERY overwhelmed. There appears to be a ton of reactions we need to memorize (reactants, products, reagents). And some are VERY similar to each other. Should I do the usual flashcards and memorize a couple a day? If I understand but decide to memorize instead is that okay for the DAT?

I would start memorizing all these by writing simple alkene reactions first. Then move on to alkyne. I wouldn't personally use flashcards but use a blank piece of paper to write all reactions down, because I want to look at all reactions and see how they are all related to each other.

First try and understand them. OC is basically how negative and positive charges interact, with concepts branching out from there. Only then will it be easier to memorize solvents and nuances of the reaction

Didn't you have to memorize the reagents for ochem? By the end of my third quarter my class was expected to know about 120 reactions and be able to synthesize products with 7 steps.

Ive been using destroyer roadmaps and writing them out all out on flash cards and I seem to have everything pretty well memorized

I wouldn't just memorize them, I would do as many problems as you possibly can. I feel like that way it won't be as boring "to memorize" them.
