Hi! I'm researching prices for pda's, and I'm having trouble finding a place to purchase a new dell axim x51v! I have found reviews, and have tried navigating through the Dell website without success. I would like a new pda and just want to compare new prices!

Thanks all!

the dell axim has been discontinued as of march this year, i believe

For some reason the Dell site is hit or miss when it comes to the Axim. Right now they don't have any information on them, but in a few hours they might have it back up. I was looking at them last week and ran into the same problem...couldn't find anything and then out of the blue it popped up later that night.

Thanks guys!

I'll check back again tomorrow or so to see if it's up and running. But, if the axim is d/c, what is a comparable pda?

I am also considering the Tungsten, but prefer windows because I am familiar with it. Any thoughts?

I read in the newspaper last month that it is discontinued. You won't have any problem understanding the Palm OS. It's an easy to use system and takes up tons less memory than Windows.

I wonder why it's DC'd. Are the putting out a new one? I have one and so does a large majority of my classmates. It's a great PDA. My roommate just switched to a Treo and it's taking her some getting used to. We both prefer the PocketPC format b/c we're windows girls.

I have a Treo 700w and I'm definitely selling that POS when I quit my job at the palm store. 😉 IMO, it's just more dependable to have a solid separate PDA for its own purposes, such as running drug info programs for school. Treo's are a mess and can freeze, bog down, run out of batteries faster, glitches, etc.

I get at least 5 customers everyday asking "what's wrong with my Treo?" Everything from the 650's to the 680's to the 700p and 700w's. Hell even the newer 700wx and 750, which are the newest and baddest windows OS that "fixed all the glitches" act funny sometimes.

When I quit my job in 4 weeks, I'm definitely using my discount to pick up either a Tungsten E2 or a TX. TX is sooo nice but the price ($299) is more than I want to spend. And frankly, it does way more than I need (Wi-fi, etc).

the dell pdas are crap and so is the service on them (contrary to how much dell hypes their customer service), and that is why they are not selling them anymore. the os system is fine. i bought the $200 palm tungsten e2 (even though i was trying to stick with windows too). if you want wifi and can afford the palm tx ($300) then get it but i have everything i need and more with the palm e2 (lexi, epocrates, pictures, music, and all kinds of pharmacy documents that i made myself and loaded onto the pda).
