As everyone that is applying this upcoming cycle knows, the day of reckoning (May 31st, first submission day) keeps getting closer and closer. Most of my application is set in stone, but the last thing left is a polished, personal PS that effectively communicates my "why medicine" and "why you." I have a pretty solid outline set-up and have a few drafts but (and this is probably just my anxiety and nervousness) I keep having second thoughts about it and keep getting worried that it is not good enough for medical school applications.

Would anyone, preferably those already admitted or with knowledge of the process, be willing to have a conversation about it with me? I want to run my outline by a stranger and maybe a draft to see how it looks and sounds to others. Would really appreciate it!

For one, you don't need to submit your primary the first day. You can submit it by mid-June (say 15th) and still be on track.

On track for the absolutely earliest interviews. Still very early in the cycle.
hey 21rush, i need some tough-love advice on my PS. When you're done with OP's ps, think you can check mine out?

also OP, don't fret you got time to make sure it's perfect 🙂

Feel free to send it over!

For those of you reading this in the future: I don’t want your PS just because I agreed to read this one. If you blindly send me documents without asking first I will delete them and maybe even tell your parents.

Just sent you my med school PS

From 2013

My mom already thinks I suck so whatevs

Hi there,

Would you be open to read my PS too? I am also planning to submit the first week of June.

Thanks!

We have a personal statement reading service thread in sdn. Look for it.

Either people are being sarcastic or they are ignoring instructions. I'm hoping it's the former.

Yea I know that AMCAS can't get transmitted to schools until late June/early July anyways (so in theory as long as you can get verified before then you are as early as someone who submitted the first day, first hour). My real reason for submitting the first day has something to do with my school and premed-committee.

That sucks. Why do premed committees force people on timing of submission? They should really just get their letters sorted out and gtfo. At least that's how my committee was. Good luck, OP.

OP I can read your PS too. Feel free to inbox me and I'll try to revise content.

(Don't count on me to revise grammar. My family almost ate my grandpa due to my misunderstanding of an Oxford comma.)

P.S. also please only OP inbox me. I will post in the PS thread tomorrow when I have a little time and I'll read quite a few then.

It’s more than that. You can submit through July and August and still be fine. Submitting after June being late is an SDN myth.

My school's pre med advising reads personal statements and gives feedback on them. See if your school offers these services. The guy that reads personal statements and critiques them at my school is an ADCOM.
