I'll try to keep this psuedo-anonymous.
I applied to 15 schools where I had reasonable chance at and 13 arbitrary top tier reaches. In total 28 MD schools. Reapp list would include ~25+ schools that are all non-reaches, mixture of MD and DO.
This cycle I have been fortunate enough to receive 5 II. 1 Rejection, 3 waitlists, and 1 upcoming interview (at a school that interviews a lot of applicants/is pretty much interviewing for the waitlist now).
Pretty much planning for contingencies now if the waitlists do not work out (will be sending update letter soon). I will be reapplying immediately for the next cycle because my MCAT score expires if I wait another year.
Academics:
Science major
3.7 overall gpa
3.8 science gpa
35 MCAT (10+ in all sub-scores)
Extracurriculars:
1500+ hours direct patient contact/clinical experience (hospital employee)
200 hour community volunteering
50 hours hospital volunteering
150 hours hospital pharm tech volunteering (prior to job that got me patient contact)
30 hours physician shadowing
2 years research experience
AMCAS opens in 4 months, are there any particular glaring weaknesses in my extracurriculars that I should really focus on? I suppose I do not have a lot of leadership experience
Considering looking for a research gig for the gap year or leadership related activity (could use some ideas on that)
