I'll try to keep this psuedo-anonymous.

I applied to 15 schools where I had reasonable chance at and 13 arbitrary top tier reaches. In total 28 MD schools. Reapp list would include ~25+ schools that are all non-reaches, mixture of MD and DO.

This cycle I have been fortunate enough to receive 5 II. 1 Rejection, 3 waitlists, and 1 upcoming interview (at a school that interviews a lot of applicants/is pretty much interviewing for the waitlist now).

Pretty much planning for contingencies now if the waitlists do not work out (will be sending update letter soon). I will be reapplying immediately for the next cycle because my MCAT score expires if I wait another year.

Academics:
Science major
3.7 overall gpa
3.8 science gpa
35 MCAT (10+ in all sub-scores)

Extracurriculars:
1500+ hours direct patient contact/clinical experience (hospital employee)
200 hour community volunteering
50 hours hospital volunteering
150 hours hospital pharm tech volunteering (prior to job that got me patient contact)
30 hours physician shadowing
2 years research experience

AMCAS opens in 4 months, are there any particular glaring weaknesses in my extracurriculars that I should really focus on? I suppose I do not have a lot of leadership experience

Considering looking for a research gig for the gap year or leadership related activity (could use some ideas on that)

I'd say priority #1 is improving your interview skills. Your ECs are fine.

When did you submit AMCAS, when did you get your MCAT score, and when were you complete?

AMCAS submitted during the first week
MCAT score received during 2012
Complete everywhere by August 15th

I scheduled another mock interview & will be rigorously practicing between now and my actual interview

:0 how did you get rejected with those numbers?

How come only 5 II with 28 schools with your stats? How was your PS and essays?
Typically II results in 30-60% of being accepted. With 5 II and no acceptance, how were your interviews?

I'm the exact opposite - with so-so stats but great interview skills (I am just assuming since I have never been rejected after I interviewed anywhere for anything). If only I had your numbers :/

We should submit a joint-application and have a tag team interview. That should work for sure

I felt my PS and essays were good or at least average.
28 schools = 12 top tier/reaches + 4 OOS publics + 8 schools I felt were within range stats and EC wise (this group contains my 5 II) + 3 more mid tiers + Case Western

Reapp list would definitely include a broader list and zero reaches.

I suspect, as Goro indicated, that interviewing must be my issue. I recently attended my last interview of the season (not expecting any from the Top tiers who are mostly done interviewing + 3 mid tiers who have shown me silence since August).
