Year in school: Graduated in 2014 from top 20 school

Country/state of residence: Massachusetts (not for that long though, as in UMass wouldn’t see me as a resident)


ORM Reapplicant (applied in 2016)

Previous MCAT scores 25 (2014), 29 (2015)


Cumulative GPA: 3.81 (1 year junior college (4.0), 3 years at top 20 college (3.72))

Science GPA: 3.78, (1 year junior college (4.0), 3 years at top 20 college (3.63))

MCAT Score: 515 (128/127/130/130) – retook it in 2018

Research:

- 400 hours undergrad research assistant

- 3 years of full-time translational/basic cancer research

- Oral and poster presentations at international conference/research meetings

- 2nd author on a review paper

- 7 months of part-time clinical research on autism


Clinical Volunteering:

- 200 hours patient transport/assistant in operating room

- 100 hours in children’s hospital


Physician shadowing:

ICU – 50 hours

Pediatrics – 45 hours

Genomics – 20 hours

Neurosurgery – 5 hours


Non-clinical volunteering:

- 250 hours coordinating programs for children with disabilities


Employment history:

- 250 hours working on summer camp + weekend program for children with disabilities

- 200 hours (including future) part time restaurant worker


Extracurricular activities:

Treasurer in a student club

After-school program teacher

Basketball and soccer as hobby


Specialty of interest: Developmental Pediatrics, Neurology, Physical med & rehab




Should I apply to DO schools as well? After not getting in the first cycle, I don’t wanna waste any more time

Unlikely and remember that some schools will average your MCAT scores.
@Goro What do you think?

I feel like since schools don't accept old MCAT scores anymore + my old scores were so long ago, they'd be weighted less heavily??
